Here you can receive assistance by the thousands of other forum members in helping you clean your PC and getting it infection free! The type of support you get is irrelevant to if you use CAVS or not, this is for anybody who needs help in cleaning their PC of infections.

Hello,

The following information is needed if you are infected with malware and require assistance. This information will help us to better serve you in the removal of the malware.

1.  What operating system do you use? (i.e. Windows 2000, XP)
2.  What service pack is your Operating System patched up to?
     a) Is the Operating System patched up-to-date?
3.  What Real-time anti-virus product(s) are you using?
     a) If any, what version? Is it the latest?
4.  What Firewall software/hardware are you running?
     a) If any, what version? Is it the latest?
5.  What symptoms have you seen?
6. What antispyware program(s) do you use?
a)Did your antivirus/antispyware program pick anything up?
b)If so what did it detect?
c)What directory did it detect it in, and what is the filename?

*Optional but Helpful information*
1. Post your Hijackthis results (see instructions below)
2. Have you visited any places that you think you have have got this from.  IE: Adult sites, file sharing   programs, Illegal software.  Since this is the internet, and we don't know who you are i am sure this won't be a problem.
3. If you are getting pop-ups or "buy this", "buy that" popups take note of the following and post them:
a)The site that shows a product that you did not as to go to (Redirected to).
b)And popups saying you have "XYZ virus, please download/buy X product" . We need to know the name of the product (X) it wants you to buy.
4. What scans have you run so far?

Hijackthis instructions:
GOTO: "http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/hijackthis.php?page=download"
      Click "Download Hijackthis Executable"
Save the file in its own folder on the drive IE: C:\hijackthis\
Instruction on how to use hijackthis:

         1. Once downloaded, move it to it's own folder somewhere on your computer.
         2.  Make sure you logged onto an administrative account.
         3. Run the "hijackthis.exe".
         4. Click "Do a system scan and save a logfile", wait a few secs.
         5. Once finished it should save a "hijackthis.log" file in the same directory as you ran the program from and open the file.
         6. Attach the "hijackthis.log" file into your post.  Please do not zip it as this makes myself nervous because of file infecter viruses.

EDIT: By Rotty: Added OS and Antivirus/Firewall version information request.
EDIT: By Soya: Corrected some grammar and updated Step 6 of HJT
EDIT: By Rotty: Changed Hijackthis details, Since Trend Micro are now maintaining the program.
