Have you tried any ofhte online AV scans?

Trend Micro, McAffee and Panda have them on their websites.

Try them out and please post the names of any reported viruses here. ALso, it would help if you can submit the actual virus files, once identified, to Comodo for analysis.

Lusher,

Great advice and great links!  Thanks, I'm gonna grab them and pop them in my 'bag of tricks'.

The one question I have about CAV is - don't they check the virus detection sites?

Kamal,

This may be a case of a virus getting out before other people catch up to it.  It's always a cat-and-mouse game, and there are always more mice than cats.

Just this last week, the place where I work got slammed by a "worm" that was posing as an update from the help-desk people.  If you "installed" the "update" you were hozed...  Huge!

Trend Micro's AV product which we use religiously - and it updates frequently throughout the day - did NOT catch this for at least a day-or-two.

I don't know if McAfee was johnny-on-the-spot with it either.

Next question:  How quickly was Comodo able to respond to this outbreak?  (or other outbreaks for that matter?)

Information like that - along with authoritative peer reviews - is the kind of information I'm REALLY interested in seeing.

Didn't you get the memo? Cos CAV is weak in this aspect, they are pinning their hopes on preventation via whitelists.

I remember one or two studies along those lines..... And btw I'm too lazy to try to look it up, so Melih please don't start yelling at me to answer the question and accusing me of backpedalling..
