I installed AVAST! HOME EDITION already and it uses LESS CPU USAGE that more important to a single core processor users. I Haven't use AVIRA yet but some of my friends and Co-Technician had troubles using Avira! in conjunction to different INternet securities. Even my Broadband Provider Recommends Avast! for now im using CFP3, BoCLEAN 2.27, SAFE SURF, AVAST! HONE EDITION and, SUPERANTISPYWARE. Once CAVS 3.o is available, I will uninstall my AVAST! and SUPERANTISPYWARE. Its better that COMODO will comeout with a ALL IN ONE INTERNET SECURITY because using a different Brands of Internet Security sometimes makes PC to slow down!

Avast is a good antivirus, I only don't like the GUI. And Avira has better protection/detection.

agent_007, there is no telling.. first of all, you made a mistake in not using an antivirus program.. second, i think that CPF 3 could have blocked "antivirus2009", with the right settings, only, for whatever reason, it didn't.. third, "antivirus2009" is an unusual piece of work.. forth, if the four rootkits that were flagged by "avast" were associated with "antivirus2009", that might explain why BOC failed to flag it, if it did..

is the "cavs" program, that you refer to, the comodo antivirus program? imo, you should stick with avast.. avast has already proven itself to work well, for you, and it has one of the highest detection-rates.. in the future, if the "cavs" program proves itself to be a stellar performer, you can switch to using it..

Thank you redwolfe_98....

I did not install any antivirus that time because I do not want to use any Brands of Internet security that time and continue trusting with my CFP3 and BoCLEAN alone... what's the purpose of CFP3 and BoCLEAN 4.27 if they do nothing to Detect those component of Antivirus2009 during I accidentaly access the Infected site? my CF3 Network Defense is [ at ] CUSTOM Defense+ is [ at ] SAFE MODE and Alert is [ at ] HIGH... I configure my CFP3 to a STEALTH MODE and BLOCK ALL THE UNKNOWN REQUESTS IF THE APPLICATION IS CLOSED in my Defense+. last Day I surf the net using my Unupdated IE with SAFE SURF, BoCLEAN, CFP3 and AVAST! surprisingly .... there's another antivirus2009 that Bangs my Screen! but, nothing happens and I suspects that that's because of the Avast WebShield. Things happens again! I did not receive an alert from my CFP3. Any Way I'm a Vista user that's why I do not Have CAVS.

Hi Agent_007.

Defense+ Does Alert you when any executable attempts to run. Defense+ recommended setting is Safe Mode  and I highly recommend you using and continue to use SUPERAntispyware and MalwareBytes'AntiMalware for future scanning and removal. Even when CIS is out, Don't throw away SAS Smiley You still will need it for a back up detection tool & removal, same with MBAM.

To be honest a Good AV, CFP 3 (and Defense+ enabled), 2 strong Anti-Spyware scanners on-demand with some common sense it all you will need. Some people can get over-paranoid.  Smiley CAV3, Yes it will be much better! Smiley

I moved the thread here because we are more dealing with malware stuff.

Cheers,
Josh

You could add MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware as well, So what one does not find the other will. It's good to use 2. You're AV is good, BOClean is good, CFP 3 is good. Smiley

And if your Browsing with Firefox 3 or Opera instead of IE, That's great. Smiley

I would also give GMER a shot to see if it finds suspicious rootkit activities.
Lot's of the "antispyware" tools don't give me good feelings on the antirootkit detections.

Gmer

And i've seen some, you trow 5 tools against them and only 1 will alarm, but as it is the case "running system" rootkit detection will never give a good picture, if the rootkit is stealth enough it will call'm down if it detects scanners.
Offline is the only way to be sure.

agent_007, i would like to know where you are are running into these "antivirus2009" things.. is it at "myspace"? i would like for someone to get the links for where these things are coming from, so that they can be blocked.. that is why i ask where it is that you are running into them..

are you using "internet explorer"? if so, maybe you could try adjusting its security-settings, and that will help you to keep from getting infected with malware..

i use "internet explorer 6", with high security-settings, but that is not a perfect situation because i have to add many websites to IE's "trusted sites zone", so, if there is any problem with those websites, then i am vulnerable..

you could try using a HOSTS file, to block access to some malicious websites/domains, if you are not already doing that..

Agent 007 How much RAM Do you have?

Hmmm.. Avira should not slow down your PC, and SAS is only on-demand and if you downloaded the trial pro version, it's very light using about 450k on resources.

Btw... Are you still infected?

Cheers,
Josh

I do have 765MB of RAM with more or less 20-25% free as of now. I do have, 3.8GB ReadyBoost here. During Avast! residency here, my PC did not experienced any sign of slowing down. I'm running at a Single Core, Celeron-D Processor with an ACS mother board here. I am not any more infected. Avast! do a great job of deleting those rootkis that came from Antivirus2009 and suddenly I replaced it with Avira.
