I notice that from the trustfax web interface, I can enter both an email address and a fax number. 

Why  would I want to enter an email address?  Is that field there so I can also send a copy of the fax as an email attachment to the recipient?  Or perhaps just copy myself?  Is there any charge (like with faxing) for entering an email address or sending an email?  thank you.

its for being able to send files/docs by email. Imagine you have a huge file.. you can send a link by email and the recipient can download it and read it.
