I would rather have something that could tell/advise whether or not the entire site is legitimate rather than a logo/graphic/link on that site. There is so much stuff on Web sites now that I probably wouldn't use it all the time, but an overall opinion on a site would be useful.
Regards,
What would you like that indicator to mean?
Site good for what exactly?
I would love to find out from our users as to what indicator they want to see about a site.
thanks

You guys might try adding a little CUSTOMER SERVICE OR QUALITY to your products!
So much for 'trust'. I can't reach anything but recordings when I call and never get responses back to any questions --just lots of automated bullsh**!
Fortunately and unfortunately, I tried TrustFax first before getting into other software purchases--that cured me of ever wanting to buy anything EVER related to Comodo.
TrustFax is the WORST!! of the online fax programs - especially for business or educators. It' too unstable with little tech support to correct the bugs.
This company ain't ready for prime time.

Melih, in response to GuitarBob my thoughts are
1) sites and pages are always changing so you cannot be on top of every site 24/7 so except for the site authentication (which on most sites only happens on the initial page and
not when changing pages
on a site, (this might be done by just the green border nothing else)) everything else is subject to daily change. In fact the site authentication could change.
2) In reading and changing sites speed and ease of use is of the essence if there is anything of significance have the Verification Logo change to a flashing red or yellow
"V".
Then if a user wants to check they could find out any information about that site or page with the date it was last checked by clicking on the Verification Logo in the task bar and going to the menu. This would allow those that have visited that site or page to continue on, and those that want to check a brief summary.
3) Was wondering when the Verification Engine might get a
new update
to allow users to directly send sites or pages directly back to the Comodo Site Verification Team through a link we disused. This link should also allow the user the ability to post a short summary and a link found on that page.
4) Some things besides site authentication, are
a) links to malware sites, malware downloads, drive bys
b) reputable sites with good software but have ads that are not from that site which has free , but most users will think it is and download the software to find it is paid software from another company and site. Ad placement visual integration to blend in.
c) Some reputable sites might have questionable occurrences. There is a tech support site that when I had visited the main page or changed to another page, I would get hit with what I would call a drive by from a reputable software.
Melih tell me if this sounds like a drive by? When that page loaded or the other page StartUp Montior warned me that something wanted to run at startup (other wise NO indication anything was happening.)
I try to closely watch what runs at StartUP, if I didn't have StartUp Monitor it would have loaded. Oh that piece of software was Quick Time task manager. Except for Security Programs, I see no reason any other programs update checker, etc. needs to run at start up.
5)If users find new concerns or
find that previous concerns have been corrected
(either by a user sending a new link to that site-page, or by being directly contacted by that site).
As I said description summaries would be dated, and the Verification Team should be notified by software when the last date checked passes a certain time frame (3 months 5 months ?) with the initial date and the last date posted. If questions about a site have been corrected for a year then the flashing Red or Yellow "V" would be removed.
This would increase the hours required to maintain the Verification Engine, but would make those listings at Comodo one of the primary stops when questions about a site are needed.

Thanks for this UncleDoug
we are working on a new version of VE with much more ehanced functionality.. it will be sometime before we can release it but i am sure you will like it
what you describe re: drive by.. sounds like it.. pls use our BO product (Comodo memory guardian).. it catches BO attacks which a good chunk of what these drive by attacks exploit.
thanks

Melih,
Installed Memory Guardian earlier today. I saw were some were having problems installing and installing in safe mode was recommended, but again some had problems.
I installed a different way, not sure if it means anything or not.
I looked at what safe mode and what processes were running and saw one for Windows Defender was. So I decided to try MsConfig in
Selective StartUp with every thing unchecked
. Before installing Memory Guardian I checked the running processes again (once I remember BoClean had a process that process that ran when others were shut down).
No security processes were running so I proceeded to install Memory Guardian. Everything worked well and when the test started I hit kill on all 3 and passed all 3.
But I had a BIG problem when I went to use Qnext! It would start to load and 2 to 3 seconds in it would stop. I could find no logs or indications why. Normally if the server is down I should get a message unable to connect. But this time unless you had the task manager open to processes you would not even know that Qnext attempted to load but could not.
One recommendation by Qnext for an allow list in Security programs is to enter QnextClient.exe there (I also install Qnext.exe) but still no luck getting Qnext to run.
I have temporarily uninstalled Mememory Guardian. Come to find out Qnext has just released its first beta of the next release. This was not the problem because Qnext loads and sends a message with files that need to be installed before completing connections to the Internet.
It looks this time they will be evolving new features and enhancements over the next several months.
Looks like they will be also bringing back an old feature from 2 releases back, Online Games.
As with most changes most of us were more comfortable with the old GUI and colors.
If someone solves the issue of Qnext being blocked when it attempts to load please have them let me know.
I am using the version 2.4.18.184 of the firewall, BoClean v update 2007-12-07 14:27;17 , Verification Engine v 2.5.0.4, Avira (free version) Spyware Terminator (all in the tray) and Windows Defender in the background with no problems till this morning.
Thanks UncleDoug

Thanks Melih,
If they like poker, chess, or backgammon they can play against each other through the message center.
LittleMac helped me with the last version of the firewall and have had no problems with the last version of the firewall. Had hoped to try v3 sooner but with all the new security features or implementations of past features. I probably will wait till after the Holidays. Wonder if someone on your Firewall Development Team could install Qnext and try it "after the Holidays"?
This will give both Comodo and Qnext to post any updates. I expect both to be finding and solving bugs and also updating with new features.
Again Thanks to You and the entire Comodo Team

Hi, I'm now downloadin' Qnext to check the problem. But in 99% it's just incorrect use of SEH (e.g. protector Armadilla use such "bugs" for anti-debuggin')

Tyler, thank you for checking what is keeping Qnext from loading !
If you scan the forums you will see that I have had problems with Gmail either locking up or crashing for the past several weeks ever since they brought out the new version.
On a hunch I just uninstalled the Verification Engine and tried about 8 or 9 times to do things that would usually cause problems. No lockup nor crashes of IE7.
I uninstalled and reinstalled IE7 with the latest version from Oct. Saturday and that took care of links locking up. But IE would still sometimes crash when I would click on Remove Spam messages. And almost always when I Signed Out and then clicked the X to exit the program. I would get an error message from Microsoft and then a white box before it crashed.
I wonder if it could be a combination of the changes in Gmail, and having IE7 phishing filter running the same time as the Verification Engine.

With 2 different program listed here. I hope Tyler can find the cause of the problem with Qnext loading and Memory Guardian, and leave a short copy of the above message in the Verification Engine forum about Qnext.

Tyler
Just to let you know I just installed the new beta Memory Firewall.
I did not make any changes and this is the default settings, and Qnext loaded with no problems.
Since I did not make any setting changes and this is the default settings are there any basic settings recommended?
This beta version looks a lot more configurable.
When it gets merged with the regular firewall sometime this spring, some configuration settings can cover more than one service such as Exceptions, etc.
Just saw the firewall (previous to v3) pop up to allow BoClean to contact the internet. Interaction between Comodo products even betas should already be there.
Did not notice the tests that were there before?
Oh again not sure if it makes a difference but I again installed using msconfig instead of safe mode.
I went to diagnostic startup. Got errors but it loaded okay, needed to uncheck load startup items.
Used task manager to check running processes, used End Process to stop BoClean but kept cmdagent.exe running before installing.
If you discover anything important about Qnext and possible memory errors let me know and I will pass them on to the Qnext Support Team. Still waiting to try it with v3 of the Comodo Firewall.
At least for now the New Memory Firewall beta allowed Qnext to load.
Thank you for your research and any future recommendations.

This is not because of some bugfixes (though there're a lot of them in new beta), some programs are full of bugs and only miracle prevents them from crashing, sometimes one poking crash them sometimes they're seems to be stable. I still can't decide what to do with such programs, "support" them in CMF or left them as is.
P.S. There's no any reason to install CMF in safe mode, you just need to be administrator
