I think a tool like this would be a godsend, especially to people who are not as familiar with the internet as they would like to be, I myself received an email, supposedly from virgin media, stating that it needed all of my details including credit card and bank details else the account would be closed.  some people may think this was totally legitimate and then hand over all of these details, but a tool which could prevent such types of fraud happening would be a wonderful thing.

I invest and I use the web to do my business, so a way to authenticate a  web site is   idea who time has come. I am going to tell you its going to be and uphill battle, I tried to convince one mutual fund company to use your authentication and guess what they did not change their we site to use your product. I for one am satisfied customer and I recommend your product to my coworkers.  Bill

Thank you Bill..

Shame on that mutual fund company as it is a requirement of FFIEC to provide authentication for their users. It is this kind of irresponsible behaviour that causes in security. If they get breached they will not have an excuse saying, we didn't know how to protect ourselves as you clearly did tell them. This makes their action irresponsible.

Thank you for trying, but these people sooner or later will see that they have to care about security and authentication of their users and they cannot be irresponsible forever!

I think that it can be usefull, especially for people that like buying on line or that can't find the produkt they want at the local stores which are near them (has happened plenty of times for me). But why not include such a feature on the verificationengine?

This is a good idea, I think it should be called Comodo - Guardian Mode. The process will not allow you to complete the purchase using a credit card until all of the creditials have been met. This will eleviate a fraud where a terrrorist organization of state X in country Y attempts to use the banking system as a means of transfering funds from one person's account into their account to use to purchase weapon's are other illgal commodities to be used against other people's. The Guardian Mode would correllate documentation of the seller of the product and link them back to the local market, such as Wall Street. If the seller is not linked to a company on Wall Street somewhere somehow then the transfaction would be labeled Zentradied. The transaction when then not go through and a special alert would be then sent to a special office set up by Wall Street. The security agency would then investigate the company and if the company is legitimate then a Wall Street security certificate would delivered to the companies website allowing further purchases to be put into the green through Comodo's - Guardian Mode

for example: a Credit card Logo, like Visa or Mastercard logo, would you like to have the ability to check if these are authentic Visa/Mastercard logos that has been issued to the online merchant or simply a copy and paste on a fraudster site.

How would that work, since for example when using various Paypal buttons the logos are included. So then those logos would be deemed fraudulent when they are not. From the way this reads everyone would have to have a direct account with Visa or Mastercard or be labeled a fraud. This does not verify the merchant is fraudulent or not, just that the merchant accepts Visa or Mastercard either through Paypal or through a gateway such as Authorize.net

With many of the ecommerce software the logos are included and are very legitimate and honest sites and merchants, but the logos are not directly from Visa or Mastercard.

Seems to me this would label a lot of innocent merchants as frauds and defame and do irreparable damage.

Just my 2 cents,

kevsdad

I said yes, although I wouldn't see much of a use for it, since I don't buy anything online except through iTunes, just because I don't have a credit card (I'm only 16 you know.) Tongue

This is a very interesting proposal. But therefore Comodo should check every possible retailer's site for authentication which means a lot of work and if one was missing in their database, you would not be able to continue your online purchase. That would drive users away from "Guardian mode". Any solution to this?

I am a sales guy, always on the move. I love the fax on the go, it put a smile on my face when I get an email on my blackberry with a fax attachment. The service is great.
But the storage part SUCKS. If you want to upload photos you have to do it one at a time. If would have been great if you can select a bunch of photos or files and upload at once. may be that feature will come in the future.

If this tool would be freestanding i dont think i would use it .

If you could incorporate it into one of your other products , that would be great , like Surfsafe ,or even I vault which could check the site before you used your credit card .

I personally believe that fewer products but better features would be the way to go.

Also means a one stop shop for anybody .

regards,

Peter

I think this a great idea. Even if I don't use a credit card online ever, I can still help to prevent people from going there by reporting it and also telling people not to go there.

Your security suite is to large and cumbersome, it created many problems for me, I am also very disappointed in the fact that Boclean is no longer a standalone product, it seems that you are going like other companies and trying to take over everything, fine, do it without me! Pity Kevin ever sold Boclean to you, it is the only worthy program you have, the rest is second rate rubbish. So long losers.
