Um, you can just wait till CIS comes out of beta. Or untill Avast 5 shows up (it will have a firewall included AFAIK)  Smiley

For now, use avast! or Avira  Smiley

Hmmm...I tried Avira, but it totally stopped my internet connect, and I just didn't like it.  I think I'll get Avast!.

Both will protect you just fine. Avast! is a complete package against malware - it has everything you need, antivirus, antispyware, antirootkit, mail,p2p and web shields and improved self-defense. For Free !  Thumb Up

Avira Free lacks the antispyware component and a web scanner, but it is also a fine choice.

BTW, don't forget to check out avast! website for nice looking skins !  Wink

Not sure about CIS final release date, but the BETA period shoudn't be long  Roll Eyes Can't tell really  Undecided

I only use CIS\CMF and sandboxie as real time protection.  Once in a while I'll scan my system with the free versions of AVIA\MBAM\SAS

the firewall is coming out some time after 5.0 as a suite or standalone. (and 5.0 wont be skinnable) Off-Topic!

I Like ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0 and I like AVG 8.0 Antivirus... Both are excellent detectors of bad software and they are fast! But I think AVG is faster than NOD 32..

Avira. It has has better detection rates then Avast!

If you like Detection Rates... Go for Avira. For features, Go with Avast!

Hi Guys, I've gone back to Rising AV Free (currently ranked 11th at Download.com)
http://www.download.com/Rising-Antivirus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10674783.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10885865
This until CAV3 is finalized, tested & proven completely effective...
Regards to all Cheers

Anyway, The ones I recommend:

Free:
-Avira
-Avast!

Paid:
-NOD32
-Kaspersky

I don't recommend AVG Anymore... Version 8 just totally turned me off it. Too bloated, Too buggy, The FREE Version is now a lot more restricted.

Off course I am keeping a sharp eye on CAV. :-)

I agree with you on AVG....was always using up at least 20-30% of my precious CPU.............But when I tried Avira it totally messed up my internet connection.  I couldn't even connect when I uninstalled it, so I had to use System Restore.
