Just to let you know Grin

Microsoft today made available for download a new release of its free anti-virus/anti-malware program for Windows PCs, Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE).

Microsoft officials: 'This update to Microsoft Security Essentials is part of the standard product update release cycle. This service update contains product enhancements to improve performance and user experience. We have improved on Microsoft Security Essentials' Automatic Remediation, which will automatically quarantine highly harmful threats without prompting the user to take action as well as minor bug fixes in set up, malware remediation and other areas.'

Is this Beta or Release Version? I guess Released Version.

Are the updates by default still once in 24 hours?

Am I right that MSE is only AV - detection, removal and no HIPS and other stuff?

MSE is a basic AV, detects and removes. New version is more automated (from the Beta I tested a few months ago)

It has some other features you can probably read up on Wikipedia or review sites.

No messy stuff like HIPS.  Thumb Up

It's a release version. Beta came out ages ago. Not sure about once in 24 hours.

Yes MSE is only an AV (real time protection, detection and removal) they do claim to have some sort of HIPS but it does not do anything compared to other products and you can't find it in the settings. It's somehow integrated go figure.
