tekeek, you can wish a lot of good things for CTM...
But, first, it must survive... It's being dropped.

Maybe I'm missing it in the linked posts but where does Melih say that it's being dropped?

Not precisely dropped. Sorry.
It's not being developed as CTM team is "waiting" for Microsoft Windows 8 plans.

It is, somehow, dropped... until further official change.

Yes, I am aware of that post. However I highly doubt it will be dropped. But for that slim chance it does I will just revert back to another program that does exactly what CTM does of course plus more. I will have to update my license, which that will cost me about $70.

P.S. Thanks for wasting forum space just for a message that you could of simply PM'd me on. This is why I hate forums, useless info in an improper location. Sorry for the bluntness.

This message will be deleted in 24hrs.
I renig this statement. Apparently I was delusional when I wrote it, ok more like 99.9% asleep.

Hi tekeek ,

You and all users have to drop this "piece of art".
That doesn't matter what MS is up to
Mac's Time Machine is working perfectly,  for example no matter what is installed as a multiple boots / encryption(s) / de-fragmentation(s) .....  & so on & so forth

Respecting your opinion I have to say , that I'm not convinced why would you or anybody have any doubts - it must be to be dropped / abandoned

At the same time, that's not necessary at all to spend $70 dollars (each year?) ... unless you really want that and  having some special features included in "that particular Software"
There are free solutions out there that are working perfectly

Cheers!

 Off-Topic!
SiberLynx,

So why must it be dropped?

Mac's Time Machine is for Mac only. Why you mentioned that I have no idea.

I know of no other software that performs like CTM at bit level except for the other one I have used in the past, Rollback Rx.

I see no reason for them to drop it, especially if they create an enterprise edition giving Rollback Rx a run for there money. It does allot better job than any other software on the market. Since CTM and Rollback Rx perform at bit level encompassing the entire partition and the MBR the only way to screw either up is using a live disk and some disk utility that alters the drive. The fact of installing Software to try and not worrying about any issues is a huge relief for me. I test software (trialware, beta, etc.) on a daily basis. My tree is split in multiple levels with one being my main tree which I revert to when not testing software. No other software allows this, before you say MAC, on a Windows system. CTM would be a great tool for your average household, non geek, user. My wife has no issue with using it because of its simplicity. I even gone as far as leaving the baseline as my bare bone factory install. So after a year I revert back to the baseline, deleting all snapshots except the latest one, and reinstall software with the latest and greatest. Which gives me peace a mind that there is not registry, file, etc lingering around from an old version that may cause harm.

So if you can point out an alternative that does a better job than CTM or Rollback Rx without having to wait several minutes or hours for an image to be restored and is free than lay the cards on the table.

I will be very surprised if MS provides such recovery especially for free.

Mac's Time Machine is working perfectly
It's a backup tool (file version), not a snapshot one.

Give me one (except CTM) that gives snapshot technology for free.

After using Rollback Rx about 2-3 yrs ago and my license would not cover there upgrade, I scoured the web in search of a free one. At first I never found one until CTM.

Really!

i heard  that comodo ctm is an easy utility for saving my computer ,

let me explain you before using ctm i hah a 16 year  experience of working with computer and i had not lost 1 bit of my data in these years ,

and your company software stole about 1 GIG of my email backups that i can't restore in anyway

i can explain you ,

one night before the power off i changed the  location of  some email  backups and after that ctm is not  working , windows  is  not  working and  goes to  blue  screen , i  started  my  computer with  hiren  boot  tool and hiren  diactivated the  comodo so  my  computer is  alive  but  the  data is  lost  and  i  have  not  any  access to  snapshots  via  windows  or  startup  console ,

so  if  you  think  this  product  is  for  protecting  your  data  you  are  in a  wrong  way

I reckon that ghost imaging should be included as a feature of this product.

Continue development of ctm. It's great that windows 8 may have a similar feature. But a vast majority wont be able to get win 8 right away. Some may get it when it's the least supported os for updates like win xp is today. So please continue development
