I have used CRC, and CSC, in my computer practice to clean client's registries.

However, due to

[1] eating up way too many cpu cycles

[2] weird bugs, such as deleting all new shortcuts placed on an XP desktop

.. I now install it, use it to clean up the registry and files, then uninstall it.

Looking forward to future less-buggy versions.

Regards,l

Downloaded the latest version 2 days ago.
Ran it under Windows 7 64-bit.
Let it clean up - trashed the system Shocked Cry Thumb Down!
Managed to boot in safe mode, but restore didn't work, still had problems.
Finally fixed it by booting from the Windows 7 DVD and doing a system restore.
This effectively uninstalled CSC, and that's the way it's going to stay.

I tried to report the problem to the support email address, but received a reply later that they didn't accept reports if you weren't registered. wtf! Why didn't they say so when I submitted the report?

Hello,

Please tell us more details about the problem. Did you get a BSOD? Also, are you talking about 3.0 build 53?

Thanks!

Thanks!
After allowing CSC to do it's thing, Firefox wouldn't load at all and Windows Explorer couldn't open some disks, then locked up. Rebooting did not solve the problem. <Ctl-Alt-Del> did nothing. If none of these essential programs worked, then I didn't consider it worth continuing the investigation. There was no BSOD. The system would apparently boot as normal, then the above problems would appear immediately.

As to version, it was CSC_3.0.172695.53_xp_vista_server2003_server2008_win7.exe (10,577,152 bytes) which looks like 3.0 build 53 to me, but I'm not going to reinstall it just to read the "About" tab. Sorry, but I just don't trust it.
