I have also used v4.1.150349.920 on my Win 7 x64 desktop without issues. I just checked for an update and I received the  same error code as you did instead of the usual 'no update available' message.

Thanks Maxx!  At least I know I'm not alone! This also appears to have messed up my Comodo installation pretty badly.  Even with using Revo Uninstaller, the Comodo Clean-up tool, I can't get it reinstalled without errors.  Don't know what else to try.

also check to make sure that in network -> change adapter settings -> right click on the network connection and see if comodo firewall is left there, if it is uninstall it and then try rebooting.

Thanks, I will try again and let you know how it goes.  But, what about the update that the installation reported?  Nothing was said about an update in the forums?

Is system restore an option or does your version of Windows allow you to make and restore a system image that might have your original v4.1.150349.920 installation?

Maxx - The only way I could get comodo reinstalled was to do a backup from an image backup I did several days ago.  Strangly, the phantom update did not reappear!  Thanks for the help. Thumb Up Thumb Up

Those updates you mention are probably for the chinese, russian language or for the ad in the highlights, top right in the Comodo GUI. If you check in your Program Files in the Comodo folder, hover over the entries and you will see the time and date they were installed.

I downloaded the new CIS (4.1.19277.920) today (August 14). That would mean that the two updates spoken of in the first post have been incorporated in the main installer, isn't it? Or do I have to download something else.

Speaking of updates will there be an update of CIS v4.1.150349.920 or is all work being done on CIS v5.0 Beta?

As far as we know from Comodo staff there is nothing planned. However, I assume there might be a follow up but that would be a maintenance/bug fixing release.

I can certainly understand why the Devs would want to forge ahead with CIS 2011 v5 nevertheless there are quite a number of Comodo Users like myself who have tried repeatedly to get v4.1.150349.920 to run properly on both Vista and Win 7 with both the x86 and x64 versions without a continued success in fact my latest experience with v4.1.150349.920 x64 on Win 7 had Defense+ in Safe Mode placing every .exe on the computer including all of old programs stored on the attached drives into My Safe Files without requesting any permission to do so while totally neglecting to create rules in the Computer Security Policy for the programs that I installed. After I installed v4.1.150349.920 x64 it seemed like it was running just just fine for about 3 weeks and then it was just like it decided to go into Training Mode all on its own and allow any and all programs into My Safe Files while refusing to give a single pop-up for any kind of behavior on the part of the programs.

So once again I find myself running good old v3.14.130099.587 on both my laptop and desktop after giving v4.1.150349.920 several chances on each computer only to have it fail to run with the same kind of perfection and 340/340 CLT scores which that I have come expect and always get from v3.14.130099.587 hoping that v5 will be able to deliver the same kind of trusted protection and not the miserable 200/340 CLT scores that v4.1.150349.920 consistently got no matter how it was configured.
