Well some of you know that during the last fiasco with the update and major CPU usage I had to let CIS go and bought KIS. I had a wife who got really cranky about her laptop not being usable. Today I had some major CPU usages with KIS so I uninstalled it then tried Avast Internet Security 5 and that wasn't as good as I thought and guess what, I once more have CIS installed and couldn't be happier. The install went great, it isn't a resource hog, the scan time was half that of KIS and AIS and I am now eagerly waiting for CIS 4 to come out of beta so I can start using it. Well done again Comodo and Team

I will install Outpost on Win7 x64 for sure (currently the latest Comodo 3.14 is there)
So, Outpost is getting green light.

The problem with Outpost is that the free version is too limited. You cannot create rules for applications, only global rules (correct me if I'm wrong).

I really like PCtools. In advanced mode is quite configurable. Shame it's such a buggy mess (or something in my machine doesn't like it; or both).

It's possible to create /edit rules for Applications. You can do that  manually /  with Wizard (Policies) / or automatically, but not necessarily the latter  There are some limitations re: global rules compare to Pro. Let's not dive deep into this here in this forum and thread
Anyway,  we have many choices to choose from.
I was talking about Outpost currently (or temporarily) for x64. OA is quite flexible and some can find it more convenient in this area... and x64 will be out soon(?)

Cheers!

Hi:

The ability to make rules in OA is limited, and we need to put a program as unsafe for these are kept and only in the paid version. It's simple to use, and works fine if one does not touch much.

Cis is more configurable and light, and I can create rules that in OA is impossible. For example: eMule rules.

Regards.

Hi Rolo,

Nobody argue  that Comodo's Firewall is very good, configurable and light.
It can be even better if many suggestions from the Wish List were implemented.

The question was what would be the alternative for those who is not going to use v4 with integrated SandBox.

Comodo; Outpost  & Online Armor are always on top and are  ranked  pretty close according to many tests.

My regards

I see that 587 was just released, but when I try to download it, I get a zero-length file.  Can anyone else download 587?

I am using WinXP Pro SP3 with Firefox 3.6.  I see some errors in Firefox's Error Console for the Comodo site and page.  Adblock Plus and NoScript are disabled.  Anyone have any ideas why I get a zero-length file when I try to download 587?

Hi SilentMusic7,

The same combination re: the system and the browser. Everything went smooth  (attached)
I'm going to auto-update later, but since you asked ...

Hope that's just a temporary glitch with your connection

Cheers!

I just downloaded v 3.14.130099.587 using my Opera 10.01 browser and the entire 43 MB file downloaded fairly quickly for this type of file according to my Bandwidth Meter Pro utility, installed easily and is now running smoothly on my Vista computer.

EDIT: We issued a small update for build 586 users. Build 587 addresses a performance issue which can cause an observable slow down in certain file system operations. So build 587 has a small performance fix.

Updater worked without glitches. This time CIS wasn't sutdown and the systray icon didn't vanished after update and until restart.

I still don't know if this uptade was necessary to my system (due to no CAV use).

2 updates in 2 days, for a product that claimed official!  wow!

In a rush,  as always...

C'mom ppl.  CIS isn't beta anymore!   Why testing it with the whole world? (many issues since something in CAV3 was reviewed to the new v4, as I'vd read somewhere, about december).

I still ask for more detailed changelog.  FW and D+ rules changed again as was in v586? Only hardcoded changes? Firewall changed?  D+ changed?  AV changed? This is too much in the dark!  Nobody likes.

And, pleeeaase, get rid of all issues of v3 before v4 in a rush!   Make v3 stable for 4 months -at least- before launching a new version... (wich is, actually, too much confusing not to mention the operational issues - I did tryed but it is still alpha to me)

If you (at Comodo) will insist in this way of managing a product, I will have to go for another option because I won't be able to manage my customers questions.  And I do love Comodo...

Pleease...

edit:  Besides updating via updater, I did download the new version using the link at page1, both 32 & 64 without problems (FF-3.6+NoScript+ABP+RefControl+CS+... all turned ON) - Those problems to download isn't due to PeerBlock/PeerGuardian blocks?

argh ! i just installed build 586 like five min ago ! dam i have to remake all again, uninstall 586, install 587 and config it. but that's better to have a fixed code instead of let it with holes and dont care about comodo users security, thanks so for this new fix, next time i'll check the forum before installing a new build to be sure i'm installing the new one.
i'm going to test PC Tools FW+ before i install comodo 587. matousec gave it the same score as comodo. I'm going to make my own point of view about this FW and if it's really a serious competitor for comodo.
