Why do you have to completely redo anything? Just update it through the internal updater. It works fine.

argh ! ... again, uninstall 586, install 587 and config it. but that's better to have a fixed code instead of let it with holes and dont care about comodo users security, thanks so for this new fix...
Hi ailef ,

Sure you could auto-update as Dch48, pointed.

On the other hand you are right about updates & "Comodo users security"

The majority of latest updates were about AV but those who are using Firewall only were compelled to update. Wait for integrated SandBox - there will be cahanges & fixes related tio that and/or Defense+ ... Neither the former nor the later has anything to do with Firewall functionality per se.
Firewall is Firewall.  It has its specific duties and has nothing to do with virtualization of Applications or HIPS alerts about accessing keyboard; display;  attempts to change registry,...  etc.

So, wait for many, many  fixes to come that are unrelated to Firewall.

Cheers!

I always do a complete reinstall, i always did like that. i prefere to restart with a new fresh install so i'm sure i'll get no troubles.
ok i tested this pc tools FW+, it's a very simple firewall, easy to create rules, it doesnt send a lot of alerts, i'm surprised that it scores as good as comodo, as there are lots of automatics rules, u cant manage the network like u can with comodo, i feel like i'm naked, i have not enough infos about what's happening.
when i launch IE, no alert, no svchost alert too, only the minimum. it alerted me with mIRC and windows live messenger, with newsleecher too, but i like the custom mode of the comodo FW with alerts to the max, so u dont miss a process that wants to do something in or out. and there's nothing like Defense+ on pc tools FW +, i thought there was some hips tool but it's just a firewall apparentely.
maybe it's not a bad FW for people that think comodo is too difficult to configure but i dont find what i want in this little FW, not enough control on what's happening. i want to rule any process.

So which one is problematic? Is it where full Package installed or the one with just Firewall & Defense+?

Both of them was problematic. Just updated to 587 and checked moving of big zoomed images in photoshopCS4 - all seems OK as it was last year:)

Builds 581 and 586 are just unusable.... So latest Comodo builds drastically slows PC performance. If I have work on Photoshop, I simply must disable Defense+ module; same thing DVD watching. So bad after at least 2 years of good performance.
EDIT: We issued a small update for build 586 users. Build 587 addresses a performance issue which can cause an observable slow down in certain file system operations. So build 587 has a small performance fix.

Hi ailef

I just checked on Win7 x64 after the latest "587" update

All traffic is shown fine and there are red/green indications by the animated icon.

Is it the computer where you tried PC Tools Firewall?
If so, please check thoroughly  whether there are some leftovers after the uninstallation that are interfering.

My regards

yep, it was a bad idea to test this pc tools fw+, the problem came after i tested this product, i found lot of errors in the event viewer and the install log file of pc tools shows so many errors, all went wrong.
i'm going to recover with a clean acronis image system. anyway i got others probs, i played too much with the registry.

Ok, I bring this up every time an update is pushed out.... but, you might want to update this:

http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/release_notes.html

It is now at least two versions out of date.

In case you don't remember, when an update gets pushed out, the above link is where people are directed to find out more info.  And as long as I have been using Comodo, that link has never been sync with the update, forcing me every time to come here, to the forums, to find out wth is going on.  If you don't want to keep that page updated, maybe change the link to send people to this forum instead.

Again, release notes website is not updated...

Does anyone know of an error 109 when upgrading from 3.13.xxx.581 to 3.14.xxx.587?

A Brazilian user asked in the Portuguese forums. I advised to uninstall/reinstall.

Hi Jose,

It seems that it's an old problem.
Please fire up the search for  "error 109" (no quotes) you will find some - the oldest is from April 2007 and there is the one marked [Resolved]

Hope that you'll find something that may fit

Cheers!

   Hi Siber.
Thanks for the information. But since I've already posted http://forums.comodo.com/portuguaordfsportuguese/erro-109-t51037.0.html  and it's not a bad advice, I'll leave it.

Off topic: I'm currently trying Outpost free and it's not bad at all.
