I have Win 7 on my acer laptop and installed 3.14 today to try it out and all went well. CPU during scanning got to a max of 50% but mostly sat on around 11%. The scan was much faster that other AV's and that really impressed me. Everything else all worked exceptionally well. In my other post the only complaint I have is missing out on a score of 340 with the leak test suite, i got 330. CIS failed on the coat test. Can anybody tell me how to set CIS up to block the coat test.

Hi guys.

I upgraded to 3.14 through automatic update yesterday. It went smoothly, however TC is gone again Angry.

Threat casting started to work with 3.13.xxxx.579 finally, and it continued working with 581. Now is gone again.

Not that I relay only on TC because I also read the security considerations if I do not recognize the file at first glance, but it is nice to see the green and red bar. Besides, my 79 year old father uses this PC, and I have instructed him to answer "allow" for green and "block" for red and in both instances "not to remember".

So where is my TC please.

Congrats,  korben!  :DSure, but the sequence 13;14;15 is kinda predictable
Make it more fun: 126709.581;  129887.586... next?  Roll Eyes

As for this update it went well and there are no problems so far on XP

But in Win 7 x64 some Defense+ policies that were working fine since .581 installation were lost
That would be more appropriate to post some details into the “bugs” section rather than into this thread

Cheers!

jokes apart - this is serious... umm quick thought... my adveture with computers started 10 years ago. never had I thought I would be using a free product that I would be able to rank more than say 5/10 and here we are.

Well, jokes apart & speaking of the Firewall only I started the adventure of using it practically from the very beginning of the "Comodo Era" and I was ranking it much higher (that's still the case) ... but it seems to me - my  journey will end soon.
I will hold until the very end using v3 and then when integrated  Evil SandBox will reach the final release ... sadly - another Firewall will be installed.

Cheers!

I have reservations about the sanboxing and other tings coming in V4 but I will at least give it a fair chance to prove itself. i'm not testing the beta so I only have what others are saying to go by . Some sounds good to me (the less popups , improved usability and expanded whitelisting) ,  other things i'm not so sure about.

I agree with you, and I already tried some alternatives. Unfortunatly my machine doesn't seem to work well with either Online Armor nor Pctools. And I don't like any of the others.

   What's your choice?

I will install Outpost on Win7 x64 for sure (currently the latest Comodo 3.14 is there)

Online Armor can be considered for 32bit. The x64 support is on its way but as usual quite some time always required even after the final release in order to test...

Actually one of the latest versions of Outpost was tested on both platforms in combination with Avira.

If you have LAN, say XP 32bit and Win 7 x64 you can try both out of fun  Smiley, but usually it's less troublesome to install and maintain one Firewall solution

So, Outpost is getting green light.

Cheers!

p.s. The win7 x64 is the system I am taking care of for my friend.
He is just into some specific Software he needs, but regarding the system internals he knows nothing , so all maintenance installations setting up ... & so on... is my job.
As for AV & other layers - he is willing to pay & install a-squared Anti-Malware Suite when v5 (x64 support) will be available soon; or he will stay with free Avira but will just add Mamutu v3 as Behavioral Blocker layer.

The full screen/video player freeze issue that has plagued the last few versions of CIS is still not resolved. This bug is seriously annoying even though there is a workaround. Can someone finally have a look at this and squash this bug once and for all?

Hi PJK ,

Can you please spare a bit of my (our?) time   Wink so, we  would not read all 7 pages in referred thread ... I browsed briefly through the thread you referred to

The original poster's  request was about "the game"

Quote
... tryed to start the two games and received a popup from defence+ that the game exe wants to access "system"...

You are talking about "full screen/video player"

Can you please clarify -  precisely what video player you are talking about?

I am never using  MS Video Player. Pathetic(!), either 32 or 64 bit, none of those are  playing all I want, therefore VLC Player was installed in Win 7 x64

... but I fired up both flavours of MS WMPs in full screen mode - that was working fine
No problems with Media Centre as well.

Power DVD v9 is pre-installed on ASUS laptop I am using - I have no problems whatsoever running it full screen as well

Worked fine with previous version of Comodo Firewall / Defense+ too

So what video player you are talking about?

Last but not  least it would be nice to know the OS & platform you are using ... that kinda helps... and probably some other details about the System Environment

My regards

Builds 581 and 586 are just unusable. I have 2 PCs, both 32bit XPproSP3 - one with Comodo firewall only (+ Avast AV), second with full CIS installed. So latest Comodo builds drastically slows PC performance. If I have work on Photoshop, I simply must disable Defense+ module; same thing DVD watching. So bad after at least 2 years of good performance.

Hi ei4ia ,

So which one is problematic? Is it where full Package installed or the one with just Firewall & Defense+?

Most likely not the latter.

I'm using Firewall only (as in the signature). No issues whatsoever neither with Adobe Photoshop (CS3), nor with DVDs Playback (any media player ... just name it)

As for AV I can switch on any of the following any time to be my main AV (with real-time residents): AVG, Avira, BitDefender, a-squared full  Anti-Malware Suite

No issues whatsoever. I never turned off the Defense+

It seems like more detailed information required from you.

My regards

SilberLynx,

I've had this problem with Media Player Classis Home Cineme Edition, VLC 1.03 and games.
My OS is Win7 x64 Home Premium.

But I'm not the only person who has this problem. There's a guy who was using the DirectX SDK who ran into this issue. There are people there who get this when gaming, other when playing Video.

For some people it only happens with full screen apps, for others (like me) it also happens with apps which are running in a window and try to display video.

The thread has several people who suffer from this phenomenon and the only "workaround" at the moment is to disable the "Interprocess Memory Access" option in the Defense+ settings. Most of the people posting in the thread have x64 versions of windows (Vista or 7).

There are actually more threads concerning this issue.

For instance : https://forums.comodo.com/other_general_gui_etc_bugs/comodo_compatability_with_windows_7_64bit_lock_up_of_death-t46901.0.html

It looks a lot like an issue I had with an earlier version of CIS (3.8.something) on Windows Vista, which is described in this posting (as the second problem) => http://forums.comodo.com/feedbackcommentsannouncementsnews_cis/comodo_internet_security_3865951477_released_closed-t35638.0.html;msg255074#msg255074

That one took 2 updates of 3.8 to be resolved. But this problem with the x64 versions was already occurring in March 2009. It seems that it should be assigned a higher priority.

Thanks for replying, PJK

Well, I cannot tell anything about gaming.
I am not playing computer games at all, but I know that there are problems and there were many requests about "Gaming Mode"

But regarding media players  - VLC 1.0.3 is working perfect on win 7 x64.
Today v1.0.5 was released and I will install it there  ASAP an will post back (edit this message)

Cheers!

*** edited *** Hi PJK
As I promised I'm updating this post. v1.0.5 was installed and tested on on win 7 x64
and tested with Firewall 13.14.xxx.586
Since 13.14.xxx.587 was delivered VLC was tested after the said update
In both cases VLC  is working perfectly. Cheers! (PM sent)
