Will Comodo AV team ever do a clean up of it's huge AV database in order to reduce the number of unnecessary detections or we shouldn't expect anything of that kind in near future ?

??  What did you have in mind?  All good idea will be considered Smiley
Are you going to suggest something like keygens that don't have a backdoor Evil  If that's the case, you must remember Comodo doesn't just cater to home users, but also businesses both small and big and  corporations too!!  Businesses(99.9%) don't want illegal activation software on their machines.

I'm sure you can understand that Smiley   If it's a false positive, click on "report as false positive" (It'll be on the same screen when something gets flagged) and if determined to be true, it'll get fixed.  If it's something like what I wrote above and your double damm sure, just add to exclusions also (It'll be on the same screen when something gets flagged).  They made it easy to do

Let me reformulate my question again ..
Will Comodo AV team ever do a clean up of it's huge AV database in order to reduce the number of unnecessary duplicate detection samples or grouping similar detection samples into one generic sample so the update size can be much smaller and it would increase the overall performance of CIS?
Something similar Avast has done in the past, reducing the size of their database by removing unnecessary duplicate detection samples and using single generic sample to detect hundreds or thousands of malware samples. Is my question making more sense now? Smiley

It's definitely more clear and specific Thumb Up

They do, like better compression techniques.  There slowly getting better generic signitures Smiley
some current examples basing my reference on this

If comodo has a duplicate samples like the same sha1 checksums, I'm sure that would have been cleared out if they have any.     If anybody could point out some examples that comodo has duplicate detection samples (obviously variant versions don't count), please post some type of proof of that so it can be fixed or PM a mod with some proof and something WILL get done about that if true. Cheers

This is what comodo has been doing

Over 1M new definitions added in the last 30 days.
At the same time, avast, for example, is at 3M, EAM at 5M, etc.

Avast is at total of 3M signatures, not 3M added last 30 days as compared with Comodo's 1M added last month, right Siketa?

I'm strongly of the opinion that Comodo should increase the strength of its generic signatures.

That said, I haven't seen any performance impact due to this and their detection is still quite good.

Same here. I even forgot that CAV has been running set to On Access scanning on my PC.
