here is another test by an independent party (who doesn't get paid by anyone to do these tests).

Great!  Thumb Up

IMHO the number of samples should be greater to better evaluate all participants.
There is no info about testing methodology.

the best test would be if someone would record the whole thing. If I had the computers and money I would set up a testing organization with 50 individual computers, a known sample of malware (couple hundread thousand) and do a static test and also a realtime test.

Why is Comodo not listed in the VB100 April 2012 - Windows XP comparative ?

The results, even if Comodo fails the test, are still valuable to advanced users. For example while false positives is a very serious issue for the majority as it erodes trust to the security software, it is also one that advanced users may ignore. So, yes, it's best to receive the award but it's still better not to receive it than not getting tested at all.

I agree with you.
The advanced users don't need to this tests, but if Comodo fails the test, Its negative effect on beginner users, and it's not good for marketing. Although I think that CIS6 must participate in these tests later.

I don't see how it's better for marketing; if Comodo doesn't trust its own software enough to put it in a prestigious test, then why should users do ?

Hi vix123,

In my opinion VB's test against user's real-world test is a little different ...... And this is reason why Comodo is valuable to advanced users ...... I usually prefer my own tests in the real-world. Well, of course all people aren't like me and you. Wink
AND, Comodo needs more work on the its antivirus.

May be COMODO is waiting for it's v6 to launch and then it participates in all these orthadox tests, as there is a lot of expectation of improvement in ANTIVIRUS part of CIS both Detection and Performance wise
