JUST GREAT!!!!

Im just wondering how much resources a PC would need.
Would it kill a mini laptop?  azn

As long as it meets the required specs, yes and I am sure it will do.

Excuse me For my ignorance on this. But, where would this even need to be necessary? I mean, is it not a security program and not a Object Desktop type program?

I can understand if one would find their system to be corrupted. But, if one would have CIS on their system, that situation would never never never occur.

Just a question.

I'm thinking the kiosk is so you can create a virtual environment that you can return to whenever you want with whatever programs you want in it without having to have a windows disc to create it like VMWare or other virtual environment software. I will for sure be using it to set my parents up so they don't have to worry so much about screwing up there computer

If that is the case. Then what would be the probability of your average user of this kind of program be? Uhh minuscule?

Just asking again,
Roger :-)

PS. Just trying to ascertain the relevance of such an addition.

its a safe/clean environment where we 'virtualise' all your desktop and allow you to operate in that environment. So you can infect yourself in that kiosk mode if you wish...restart and its all gone...or do your banking etc etc.

There is more discussion about this feature here.

Thanks. But I do not see the need of this. I mean, if you are already running CIS, there is absolutely no reason to be worried to run your browser/etc. in an environment safe enough to do banking or whatever. Plus, I have an extremely large monitor three or more feet from my keyboard/mouse and to not see the remote possibility of using my desktop system as a touch screen. This whole "Metro" thing is more or less worthless to a user on a desktop system.

Doesn't anyone ask these types of questions?

your wording is odd but I think you're asking how many average users will use the kiosk. if so I would think not many but then ask how many average users use cis period, not many but advanced users use cis and they tend to have friends and family who suck at managing security. the kiosk would make the job easier for the advanced users to manage their friends and families computers. it would probably also be just easy for average users to use as a normal environment once they're set up from the looks of the video

I actually think its a great addition to the CIS suite.  Signatures and scanners are now considered archaic in the world malware.  Trying to keep up with malware with signatures is like sticking a finger in the dam.  Eventually something is going to slip through.  Using virtualization and sandboxing is the wave of the future.  Adding something like this would launch comodo into the fore front of security.  Very smart for comodo to reach this level of secure browsing.

I don't understand what you're trying to say here. how does a metro style interface prevent you from using you keyboard and mouse like normal. in the video they used a mouse did they not? and though the used a virtual keyboard I'm sure you can use your hardware keyboard too. perhaps I'm not understanding your issue. if so can you reword it

Now, your reply actually makes this endeavor quite relevant. Thanks for your intellectual based response.

your wording is odd

How is proper English odd? You are odd! :-)

I don't understand what you're trying to say here.

Nah, your wording is pretty odd, roger. I wouldn't call that proper English. "If that is the case.", is not a complete thought. Also, "Then what would be the probability of your average user of this kind of program be?", is also not a complete thought. Even put together they aren't a complete thought. My guess is you meant to say, "If that is the case, what would be the probability of your average user to use this kind of program?". I normally wouldn't say anything, but you said it was proper so you forced my hand.  Tongue

I understand. And I do apologize for my remarks that I may have made. But I was not trying to ridicule this newest endeavor, I was just trying to see the relevance for its newest enhancement.

For my knowledge... In the video the guy click at "virtkisok.exe", so I figure that the Virtual environment mentioned here is something apart from the running CIS. If thats the case, Ill enjoy it as a feature, not a running app everytime in my computer.

And my guess... To run it nice, maybe, we need an 1.6gh cpu with 1gb of ram... Is that correct?

EDIT.: "panic" moderator said that KIOSK is "Standalone, as shown in the video." by his words...

Of course not. I don't believe think anyone thought that, but it's good you clarified that one out. As for the issue of relevance, well, "Relevance" is not a question of probability, but a question of intention. The feature is intended for malware and security; consequently, it remains relevant regardless of usage statistics in the same manner a book on Hypnerotomachia Poliphili is relevant to Literature regardless of reader statistics.

CIS 6 Kiosk is as good as Avast's SafeZone, if not default, then it serves no purpose.
