Hi

Yes, it does.
Just make sure the SMTP server is ok.

Should be ok.. hm, still nothing Sad. Now i'm checking out CBU on Vista (SP2). I've tried 3 different accounts (main ISP, an own domain and hotmail.com), no test were successful. Is that CIS maybe? There's no detailed feedback which would help me to identify the source of the problem (wrong password, user name, port, protocol, etc.).
The servers:
mail.t-online.hu
mail.redrooster.hu
smtp.live.com

Somehow CBU don't like t-online.hu, it'll crash if i specify those datas.. I can't figure out how to specify correct datas, here's the event viewer's xml about the error:

- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
- <System>
  <Provider Name="Application Error" />
  <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID>
  <Level>2</Level>
  <Task>100</Task>
  <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>
  <TimeCreated SystemTime="2009-11-04T15:33:09.000Z" />
  <EventRecordID>8792</EventRecordID>
  <Channel>Application</Channel>
  <Computer>oldfool2</Computer>
  <Security />
  </System>
- <EventData>
  <Data>CBU.exe</Data>
  <Data>1.0.0.1</Data>
  <Data>4aeaa2f1</Data>
  <Data>CBU.exe</Data>
  <Data>1.0.0.1</Data>
  <Data>4aeaa2f1</Data>
  <Data>c0000005</Data>
  <Data>0010ef0b</Data>
  <Data>1df8</Data>
  <Data>01ca5d626279c0c8</Data>
  </EventData>
  </Event>

Or, i use an e-mail test, it will run, but it'll display a "Unable to send notification email because 4" message. What is that 4?..

Do these servers need authentication?
Can you handle Wireshark to capture the network traffic?

They sure require, checking wireshark, haven't worked with that, yet.

EDIT: done, picture attached. Any ideas or anything else you need?

Somewhat minor but very annoying

Please verify your time functions in your email notification!
time stamp in upper left of emal header (email openned using outlook 2007) shows time sent in GMT whereas system time from sending system is in local time.  Receiving system is also local time.
My system is as follows:
- Your Operating System (and whether it's 32bit/64bit);  Windows 7 x64
- Other Backup & Security Software Installed;AVG free version
- How you produced the problem;  send email notification from commodo backup.   Corresponding received email shows local time in header but when opened shows GMT as time sent.    This was verified by changing the sending system to GMT and repeating the backup job.   Email times then were correct.
- Any other Additional Information;  email time stamping works for all other email applications and clients.
email server is linux using Axigen mail server.

Checksum you can ignore (Or disabled checks, those are FP's..)
Edit, Preferences, Protocols, TCP, "Validate the checksum if possible" untick.

The second screenie show's that the server you defined is not listening on port 25.
It's sending a SYN request to negotiate a connection but the remote server is not responding to this request.
It should respond with a SYN/ACK.

Would be nice though that CBU recorded in the logfile "Unable to connect to SMTP Server"

So 1) it's not running a SMTP server or 2) it's firewalled somewhere in between CBU and the server...

Would be nice = i wish i could get text messages or correct error codes (e.g. 0x... to google/ask it). Should be an SMTP server, it is possible it's not using a default port, but nor there's an option to specify other datas or a text as what is supported. Test should tell me st., like "secure connections not supported", etc., or the your example at least.

The current connection from this Vista machine is the following:

PC -> router -> modem -> Internet

Somehow, i don't think the router can cause problems, nor CIS (i disabled the fw for these tests).
Also, why my target e-mail and my ISP address crashing CBU?Huh Can you confirm, please? I specified mail.t-online.hu for the smtp, and geza[\\\]tomassi.org e-mail address as the target. If i repeat the very same backup (same cbu file name, etc.) process, cbu will not crash with the same e-mail settings (something smart checking process here i guess).
The funny thing is, once i was able to get a "Message sent successfully" message (with smtp and target address texts, only... yay..).

I'm ready to create you an account at any of the following domains: freegamespalace.org, tomassi.org, redrooster.hu.

PS: that option was not checked in wireshark.

Strange if i telnet the same IP on port 25 i get this...

220 BLU0-SMTP21.blu0.hotmail.com Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.3959 ready at  Thu, 5 Nov 2009 02:34:09 -0800

Are you sure CIS is not blocking outgoing TCP 25 from CBU?

Try this on a command-box:

telnet 65.55.172.254 25

If you get the above prompt type "quit" without the ""

Normal Bug:

Logfile reports: Backup system files finished! when there are also error's.
Shouldn't that be "Backup system files finished with error's?
And then post all warnings & errors below that line so you don't have to go trough 1000nd's of lines of text?

Request for Change:

Logfile is written as "UCS2 Little Endian", I'd prefer ANSI
