Hi Melih
Even though i have been on the forums a short time...i realise the product you are giving away is a step ahead of the competition....is it possible that Comodo have shot themselves in the foot as it's free for life...i reckon if it was a paid for product it would be out of my reach....money for me is tight and to honest even i would have found the money to for a subscription...maybe a premium addition is the way to go or make and sell a browser..as you know what your buying with Comodo...surley you guys could design a better or should i say safer one than ie7(yes i am a microsoft fan) and use your own unique brand of security especially as the net can be hazzardous to the wallet (shopping online) as i have little or no faith buying online...or your own e mail client...Just have a problem getting my head around the way top products are free to use even after reading your explanation... i have dowloaded dozens of products and been dissapointed with many...the only trialware i bought was TuneUp utillties..and two others...don't get me wrong i am greatful to Comodo and have read alot of reviews online and posted my own.. i also know BOClean is a real gem and i like the way the forums are run with a wealth of knowledge whatever user experience....

 (R)

Thanks JayCub

I think we have a good business model Smiley As long as our users trust us and our brand, we have the ability to sell our products to online merchants and businesses..
thank you

Thank you for the reply Melih and to a point i did feel somewhat sceptical having read many times on the net you get nothing for free theres always a price
So i checked your profile on Wikpedia as well as other security forums where in fact you had laid down challenges(Leak tests) for CFP and all i came up with is your passionate about Comodo and your products  and that you totally believe in what you are doing..and cannot be faulted for that .so at the end of the day i think you should be applauded for your efforts and all the hard work/ time and effort you have put in on behalf of your customers/users and the commitment to your products...

Well I will continue from my side! But I need your help too! without your help and other user's help I simply cannot do it! Do I have your support to help me achieve our goals?

You've got mine forever. Some of the other stuff out there takes forever to load, has adware, or doesn't work correctly. The programs your company has made runs fast, and has the highest security rating of some of the products that some people pay for.

Hi Melih, I'm new here (finally decided to register), but have been using COMODO Firewall since January (and recently installed BOClean too), so I have to thank you (and the rest of the staff of course) for such a quality product, and especially the fact that it is also free Cheers

I wonder however, do you worry that there may be businesses (or even some regular users) who may be put off by the fact that it is free, as they may equate free to mean it is poorly made and offers no protection?

Also, I commend you on choosing to use SMF for your forum, as it's always good to see more people and businesses taking it seriously, however I was just curious as to who exactly decided upon it? Since it seems in most cases businesses of course seem to turn to the commercial offerings such as vB and IPB.

Would I be correct in my assumption that the reason is that you possibly saw similarities between COMODO and Simple Machines (the fact of wanting to provide quality for free)?

- Matt.

Hi Matt

Welcome aboard.

People being put off cos its free: some will be, thats where education and word of mouth comes in. We need everyone to help us spread the word.

SMF: i can't take the credit for that i am afraid. our sys admins tell us what we should use. so credit goes to them

Hi Melih,

Here I am late, as usual.  Embarrassed

I like your mission statement, and I like your products.

I don't know the size of your enterprise, but I get a feeling that it's still rather small. That's a good thing for the end user. I hope you can grow to the size you envision, and still maintain a personal touch. I'm amazed that you can keep so many products in development. It must be chaotic in your shop. I know that even 1 hot program can be overwhelming to a small staff.

I can't help but look at your Freeware products, and foresee them merging into a security suite some day. If so, please take a look at Symantec. Their security suite is respected, but not well liked. I hear many complaints and frustrations. There is an almost  universal dislike for the nags and  "heavy" feel. I have heard many users complain that it "drives them crazy".  Users continue to use it and pay for new subscriptions mostly because they trust it.  They trust it mainly because it's popular... the "herding instinct" if you will.  Making Comodo a household name is going to be a huge challenge. It's ironic that creating a fine free product is easier than making it popular.

For the better informed, the thrill of waking up and finding a new beta release of FW, CAVS, or BOC is a thrill the Symantec users will never know!

Thank for the feedback Bobad

Comodo is world's 2nd largest certification authority (as of July 07). We are the guys who enable the yellow padlock on websites for a more secure interaction.  We are a mid-sized firm, with a sizeable R&D team. Thanks to our users and customers, we are growing very rapidly and hope to continue to deliver world beating and free products to make world a safer place (literally!) (we turned this cliche into a usable one for Comodo Smiley )

thanks

Your name is really well unusual where are you from? Thinking

Besides that I don´t go to forums but I wanted to say that your products are good . I use the firewall and the Bo cleaner. I had some problems with the Bo . He ate my MIRC all the time. I had to put my mirc in the exclusion area ....

besides that I still have these doubts about all this being free. After all this takes a lot of work and people have to develop all this....

And must be PAYED!

Well the anti virus I still don´t use because well, it seems it´s not 5 stars ! But I think it´s going on

on the right track

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK....
