Any chance you guys at Comodo will add a file version property in future builds that allows me to use my Filehippo.com update checker? It would be handy.

Am using filehippo update checker without any problems.
Since the latest version of Comodo Firewall is listed on their site, don't see any reason why the update checker wouldn't reveal a new version should one appear.
You can check the version of the firewall by double clicking the firewall icon, click miscellaneous, click about.
