Thank you for the link, Someone. (I thought you wanted to change the name)

Does anybody know what the BO part stands for?

Back Orifice... this was one of the early Rootkits in late 90s... hence the name BO Clean....

BOClean specialises in the nasty ones Wink That's why a lot of people use BOClean even if they have a good AV..

I've never used BOClean and actually don't recall hearing of it before yesterday. Will it be able to replace Spybot S&D, A-squared, Adaware or Webroots Spyware Sweeper?

Forget WSS. Use the others to scan. BOClean will guard in real time. Or if you want to scan a single file, you drag the file to BOClean, and it will report clean or not.
Hope it helps (i've never used it, but read a lot...)

Ahhhh, thx. I actually refuse to use WSS anymore (can't exclude my large hosts file anymore). Just used it as one example. Spybot S&D, A-squared and SpywareBlaster I do still use. Cyberhawk was buggy so BOClean sounds like the best choice. Smiley

Congratulations to all involved. I hope y'all continue BOClean's great tradition and make all your products the best available.

This is the first I heard about it.  Lips Sealed

I'm shocked. The gang at Boclean have always being full of contempt with regards to free products, and now it's free?   Tongue They must be really desperate! From the few comments made by them it seems that they approached quite a few companies to try to keep afloat.

Well it can't make Comodo any worse obviously , so good news for them. Though as expected, most of  the professionals (read rivals of BOclean) are not too happy about this. No doubt, the free factor will piss them off.

I'm not sure where you came by that impression, in the last 5 years I've been following and using (3 years) their products I've never had that impression or heard anything like that.
In fact, my impression has been just the opposite.
BOC began as freeware and a service to friends and only went to pay when the cost of maintaining it became too great (read Nancy and he must eat).
Their commitment to their customers to this day is more of a calling and testament to who and what they stand for.
Melih has single handedly turned the anti-malware industry on it's ear with his coup of BOClean.
Better stock up on popcorn, I wouldn't miss this show for anything.

Exactly my point, I can dig out the quotes if you want where Nancy sneers at the gang using free Ewido/ AVG or whatever for that very reason! Because according to them there is no way free products can be as good as Boclean cos the products are free and according to them, people there are just doing it as a hobby!

Funny now that their product is going to be free, I see some people making the same comments lol

I personally don't care what people say about something being free. In the end, its the quality that counts. You have quality products that you pay for and you have quality products that are free. The same goes for products that are crap.

So, now BOClean is a hobby for Nancy and the gang - big deal. Sounds like the best of both worlds to me - being paid for working on your favorite hobby. Smiley
