Thank you very much albatros65! really appreciate you taking the time to post your feedback..thank you!

This could be incredible,  but I'm coming from a friend of mine: pc very slow and a lot of troubles. I've eliminated his old antivirus (by the company that claims free av/is are not sufficient to protect the system  Grin).
I installed CIS and found a lot of malwares that the famous AV hadn't detected). Now situation seems to be better, but I think that the battle will be very hard again...
I wish you an Happy New Year.
Regards...

Melih

I am also a former user of ZoneAlarm Pro. I now use CIS Premium 5.0. I really love this software. I have also downloaded several other Comodo programs and I am totally satisfied with them.  You have a great company with great products. I will be with Comodo from now on. You rock.   Grin

To Replace Norton Internet Security (NIS) i would use Comodo Internet Security (CIS)
(both are internet Security Suites)

i was pretty young and really had no idea what security against online threats was when i started to use Comodo firewall in its early days( 2 or something) i loved the interface and really it was very good. And then comodo Antivirus came up and i read through some forums or even here that Antivirus part was not reliable. Well i used it anyway and almost never had a glitch with it. What i really love then was BoClean. That was something like MBAM or SAS nowadays.. Anyway i switched to AVG and later Avira and AVAST but i kept getting problems. AVG was the choice for a long time since 8, 9 and 2011 line came up. That killed and burried AVG, (R.I.P AVG). I read somewhere that you have been giving out comodo suites pro and i asked one and i received one for free. Well since than i have been so happy with it. MBAM never finds  anything and internet speed is very pleasing. Comodo has become something it was never thought of before and i have great expectations. I would support it gladly right now if the prices were a little favorable for me but rather the free suite is more than enough .
Honestly i congrat you guys from my heart and hope to see Comodo ever growing
. Thumb Up Thumb Up rocks rocks

Hi Melih,

I use the Comodo firewall and I think it's outstanding... thanks for such a wonderful (and free) product!

Now that I've thrown out some warm fuzzies  Wink may I provide one piece of feedback?

A firewall is obviously a critical piece of security, so when it is disabled there should be a readily seen indicator on the tray icon. Unfortunately, Comodo doesn't have this feature and I was shocked.

I disabled the firewall the other day while installing a trusted program that suggested I do so. Then I forgot that I had disabled it and surfed for DAYS before I randomly checked it's status. Luckily, I had no problems.

Please, please have the icon show an "X" or exclamation point or SOMETHING to warn users that the firewall is off. This seems critically important to me and I've never seen any type of "security system" that didn't give an ongoing warning that it is disabled/deactivated!

Thanks for reading this-

Hi ddferrari. Welcome to the forums.

You are right this is a weakness and it is known. Please also cast your vote in A Timer or Warning, Please! in the Wishlist board that asks for this feature.  Thumb Up

Hi ddferrari , welcome to the forum

Sure, what Eric posted above and respective discussion re: Wish List voting is fine (rather correct),...
...  but
may I ask where did you find the suggestion to disable Firewall  in circumstances  you've described  Huh

What about just switching to "Installation Mode"?
Have you experienced any specific troubles with that, when installing the said Software ?

As a matter of fact, you don't need even the later in case the Software is trusted (sure not being  removed from TVL - trusted vendor list)
Do you need to switch any mode, say receiving & installing the Patches from M$ ?

My regards

p.s. a side comment to mods:
how this request belongs to the topic here "Give all that for FREE!!! What's the Catch? How does Comodo Make Money?"  Wink Cheers!

admin; XP Pro, SP3 (32bit); CIS 3.14.130099.587 (firewall only; Proactive with Defense+)- that is the only Comodo's thing I need; Emsisoft - Mamutu Behavioural Blocker or Full EAM
Win 7 x64: Comodo Firewall 3.14; Emsisoft Anti-Malware

Installation Mode went away with the introduction of the sandbox.

But I agree, even if a program you trust recommends turning off your firewall during installation, I think that is poor advice. You may trust that program, but is trusting that program worth trusting the internet?  Wink

Thanks HeffeD ,
I didn't realize from the OP's description that it was a request from the program "you" trust"  Smiley
Would I ever listen to such request  Shocked - No - never! (I thought - "trusted" by CIS)

Cheers!

p.s.
Installation Mode went away with the introduction of the sandbox
forgot  that - very sad & unfortunate, but I have no intention to go  Off-Topic! here with this discussion
