Why register?

Hi,

[1] I just got I-Vault, and I gave my email address and got a registration key, though I haven't started using it yet. What I'd like to ask is, what is the need for this elaborate registration process? Why not just allow users to download the software and use it, like with the firewall? Is there a catch or something with registering?

[2] I got billed $ 0.0; if this product is free, then why this confusing process of showing dollars and all? Will I have to buy it at a later stage?

[3] I use only Opera these days, though I might try the new Firefox; does I-Vault run perfectly with Opera?
