 Huh

I'm running CIS 3.10.102194.530 on XP Pro SP3. On the summary page under Highlights, it says, "A newer version of COMODO Firewall Pro is available! Please click here review the changes and update your copy." The URL I go to when I click the link is http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/download_firewall.html, where it says that the release date for the version available for download is July 7, 2009. The release notes at http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/release_notes.html say that the "new" version available for download is Version 3.10.101801.529 : 7th July, 2009. If I download and try to run the installer for the "new" version, it says CIS is already installed and offers to uninstall or add/remove components only.

Ok, today is July 5, and the page says the release date for the new version is July 7. The version number for the "new" version is lower than the version number I already have installed. What is going on here?  Huh

529 was to have been the release but a problem was encountered so 530 was released to correct the issue. It looks like website hasn't been updated. I'm not sure about the date, it was reported before, perhaps it's a typo or perhaps the 7th was to have been the official date...

I'm not sure why you're seeing an update as being available. I just ran a manual update check and it tells me, correctly, that there are no updates.

Are you sure you have 530 installed?

That's the version that's shown in the About window. I don't know when it happened, but it has stopped showing the update available message.

I have had two updates to 530. One yesterday and one today both appeared to download and install ok and a reboot was not needed in either case. Is this as it should be or do I have a bug?.

I updated a second machine to 530 yesterday, and experienced the same symptoms as I did on the first one.

May be fixed bug returned? Did you manually remove any of the entries of the My Trusted Software Vendors list? It's just a wild stab....

I received an update notice on 3.10.XXXX.530 today as well.  I performed the update.  I had made a post earlier about DOS programs not running with 3.10.  I received a reply about a temporary fix involving the renaming of guard32.dll.  The reply also indicated that this problem would be fixed within the week.  The update that I downloaded this morning included a new guard32.dll, published by COMODO, version 3.10.36658.530.  So I assume that this latest update was the "fix" referenced earlier.  -SA Jack

I don't think so. If you rename guard32.dll, CIS will want to update because it's missing. If you update, it will give you a "new" guard32.dll. Since it's the same .dll as the one you renamed, you're back in the same boat.

You are absolutely correct.  When I booted this morning, I was still unable to access DOS programs.  So right after I renamed the new guard32.dll, I received an update notice from Comodo within a few minutes.  Although it was not the fix yet, it's good to see that it monitors files that need to be there.  Hopefully, the fix for this issue will be out later this week as indicated.

There will be fix for the DOS programs according to egemen the head developer:

It seems we have a bug with 16 bit applicaitons. We will fix this issue this week. Until we fix it, a temporary fix would be renaming guard32.dll in c:\windows\system32\guard32.dll to something else and restarting your computer. When we update CIS, you can restore it back.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
