I uninstalled CIS.cis Debug Injector
« on: December 01, 2013, 10:55:36 AM »
I uninstalled CIS.cis DEBUG INJECTOR (that's as close to the actual name as I can get). I did this using Revo Uninstaller, then I removed the registry file using CCleaner. I thought it was part of an issue I was having. Do I need it and how do I get it back?

CIS debug injector? I have never heard of this. Have you been in contact with Comodo staff about a problem and they ask you to run some tests to debug a problem?

No, I have not heard from them. What I did when I did not recognize the line in Revo Uninstaller was to search on Google for that information. The only data returned in the search was about Comodo so I thought I would try here. I really don't know what it was.

I cannot find the CIS DEBUG INJECTOR or Debug INJECTOR in the registry.

I don't know what it is for or belongs to. CCleaner will keep back ups of registry keys you removed that it will keep for a certain period of time. During that time you will be able to restore that key.

Hi geercom and Eric,
I found entries in the following 6 registry locations,
1) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CIS.CisDebugInjector
2) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CIS.CisDebugInjector.1
3) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{BBB01528-20FE-4bc2-9D26-C70E3ABB9CD1}
4) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CIS.CisDebugInjector
5) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CIS.CisDebugInjector.1
6) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{BBB01528-20FE-4bc2-9D26-C70E3ABB9CD1}
I found if I delete the entries and reboot they are re-created instantly.

Note: The following is only a guess which I have no evidence of its accuracy.
My guess would be an automatic CIS files integrity checker at boot time that creates a Dump file if an issue is found.
A good read guaranteed.

Thanks for the list captain. The search query I used did not show up results.

I also have those keys and yes they belong to CIS. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{BBB01528-20FE-4bc2-9D26-C70E3ABB9CD1}\LocalServer32 points to cmdagent.exe.

I now understand the topic start better. I read "I uninstalled CIS.cis DEBUG INJECTOR (that's as close to the actual name as I can get)" as "I uninstalled CIS.". Then a new sentence "cis DEBUG INJECTOR (that's as close to the actual name as I can get)".  :D
