how about this as a compromise put launchpad in the control panel with an option for a tray icon, i would like a launchpad tray icon as i have 13 icons in the tray as it is. if you split them i could end up with 17 or more.

Please DON'T KILL LAUNCH PAD! It has so much potential!

This is coming from a guy who not 10 minutes ago was fuming over the un-installation process of launchpad.

The only reason I was upset was because I could find no easy way to uninstall it. The program itself is good though, and if COMODO offers a way for us to keep it on our machines with a REAL uninstall option, then I will put launchpad back on.

I really like the idea of having one "central" control area where I can access all my COMODO programs within it.
Heres a suggestion: Instead of LaunchPad coming with individual programs, and being able to access those programs in LP depending on if it came with the program or not, make launchpad a seperate downloadable program that detects the other COMODO software. That way you don't need to bundle (Scary internets word) anything, and gives the users complete control over what is installed. Makes the users feel even more safe, I know it would for me!

Anyways, please don't get rid of LaunchPad. Please consider my suggestion and I will continue using your firewall (Not the virus scanner, untill a patch to fix the "full scan" error is released) and hopefully I'll be using LaunchPad in the short future.  Smiley

Thanks!

I have recently started using Comodo products. No, do not kill Launch Pad. Keep it. Improve it. Initially, I did not care for Launch Pad. I have changed my mind after using and gaining understanding. I have vision of great potential for Launch Pad. That’s my vote.

My preference leans toward getting rid of Launch Pad.  I like the software without Launch Pad. Smiley

Hi Melih,

Yes, by all means, KILL Launchpad.   It's useless.

I have started using the Comodo software last Sunday, with the firewall and antivirus version 1.1 - andthe launch pad installing on my system. I have 2GB RAM and Radeon X1300 with 256 RAM, but the launch pad caused a sort of "glass window" feature on my desktop, which I could not remove in any way. And it was the LP that caused it - switched it off and my desktop returned to normal. Recently I replaced the 1.1 version with the new CAVS beta 2 (no LP) and  Bounce no glassy things on my desktop. I'm not against the LP - but perhaps it should be a common feature for all applications (as in NIS for example) and be easier on the graphics  Hug

Yes, I think Launch Pad is a bit superfluous, I maybe would like it better if it actually held AV and Firewall, but only AV sits there! No firewall. Also, the AV has no icon in the system tray so if you stop Launch Pad from opening you dont know if AV is on!

Hi,

Latest CAVS (2.0.8.20) has no Launchpad and has its own icon in the system tray.

2 questions:

(1) How do I use Launchpad to launch Personal Firewall?
(2) If I can't use it how do I get rid of Launchpad?

I don't think I've heard of anyone wanting to add applications to LaunchPad.  To be honest, I don't know if it can be done or not, as a user-initiated thing...

As far as getting rid of it, that's easy enough.  Go to Start/Run, type "msconfig".  Go to the Startup tab, find the entry for CLPTray, uncheck the box.  There may be one other launchpad-related entry, but I can't remember the name; they'll be together tho', as I recall.  If it's there, uncheck that box, too.  Click Apply.  OK/Close.  Reboot the computer.

Now navigate to c:\program files\comodo\launchpad.  Right-click Launchpad folder, and select Delete.  That should take care of it.

I'm not opposed to launchpad entirely, but it is another app loading at boot up causing a slower boot. Also, I would like to be able to close it from the right context menue when I need to close apps without having to go to the task manage. That should be a given with any program.

I also agree with Jager,  it would be nice to have one icon in the tray for all of my Comodo apps instead of 3 or 4.  I say keep but just make improvements to it like this consolidation of apps Smiley

Totally agree..... its so much easier and CLEANER in the taskbar to have one program for "launching" all the Comodo program you have installed. I dont know about anyone else.... but I am VERY eager in using all the products from Comodo and what wouldnt be nicer to then collect 3-4-5 icons in 1 and launch them from there.
Please now dont think BACKWORDS and do oposite than all the other developers... which has had this on the users wishlist for years and then they finally gets it.....
We can see this have been the solution from all the serious software developers which has a "group" of products and they make this kind of launchpad that Comodo here has......
So...... please keep it....
