I've just switched over to Comodo firewall from Sunbelt/Kerio.............up until now the best free firewall I've used.Nortons paid for firewall and ZoneAlarm (free) would both cut me off from the web at random and frequent intervals.Outpost did not like my AOL connection at all and (AOLs) McAfee free firewall did not inspire much confidence.

Kerio is very good...except it interfered with the installation of older games and programs requiring the 16 Bit Subsystem in Windows XP.

No such problem with Comodo.....it just works.........Brilliantly!

Not only thatr it's readily configurable and has an interface that is refreshingly easy to use without being dumbed down to computer illiterate level.

I am very very impressed.....so impressed I've ditched my Kaspersky based antivirus and am trying out the Comodo beta antivirus too.

Well done  Comodo.

Firewalls are great to have, but limiting yourself to just a firewall for security is a big no-no. firewalls will never be 100% safe, it is a proven fact. Now on the hand of the way the firewall has been written, it has alot of features that others do not have, like knowing what your applications are doing and there ip addresses, knowing that you are at the control of your computer when something wants to be sent out or brought in. these factors are good and so far this firewall has helped me out alot, from stopping svchost.exe hacking programs to other situations were otherwise i would have no clue. It is also great to know what programs are doing and what they are using and your firewall does this. Just remember, in order to get the most of Network Security you must remember the 3 D's of Network Security. Defensive Controls ( such as your firewall, router access lists, static routes, spam and virus filters, and change control), Deterrent controls (including messeges of acceptable usage and security policies), and Detective controls ( including audit trails and log files, system and network intrusion detection systems, summary reports reviewed daily, successful and blocked attack vectors, and any other security-related information that is highlighted). Wink Caution Do not employ one or two of these three Ds of security. All three modes are necessary for a successful security program. KNowing what is going on in your Network is at most importance, dont just relie on a firewall for if it is breached your inner network is vulnerable, its like a lolly pop once the hard shell is broken all there is, is the soft candy. So make your network like an onion, were hackers will have to peal away at it (crying) in order to breach your network. Clapping

Comodo is great! I used to have Zone Alarm, which slowed my machine down a lot. So far it has been super. I saw a rating for it in PC magazine who rated it very high. That was the hook in my mouth to at least try it! I am glad I did!

I will like report in my mother language.
Me gustaria mucho escribir em mi lengua materna.

Thank you very much , congratulations
Muchas gracias, congratulaciones.

I have been using the embedded Microsoft XP firewall where you do absolutely nothing at any time, but it seems to work and update automatically but you never see this happen.
I am now using Microsoft 2000 Professional where there is no embedded firewall and in this case, I am using Comodo firewall. I am sure it is a good firewall, whereas with the XP firewall I have no knowledge. Since my understanding of firewalls and 'educating them' is zero, XP firewall is ideal.
Is there any way I can use Comodo firewall and make no decisions at all, regarding the questions it asks for allowing or not, the access of incoming data, when one has no idea what it means or pertains to?
In other words, Comodo firewall is much too complicated for the average PC user to understand and therefore a simplified version to download, for those with no knowledge, like XP firewall, where there is nothing necessary to do other than turn it on and use it satisfactorily, would increase Comodo's useage vastly.
Is any such version envisaged or available?

G'day ace,

Welcome to the forums. Good to see another Aussie on board. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to post them. There's a great bunch of users here with a really broad range of experience, a good sense of humour and more patience than you can poke a stick at. Don't worry about your level of experience or inexperience. The only really dumb question is the one that never gets asked.

Regards,
Ewen :-)

Comodo firewall is rock solid, intuitively easy to use and guards your pc with Fort Knox-like security. It is by far the best free firewall on the market and is already challenging some of the best paid firewalls on the market for supremacy. The developers are also very pro-active, always striving to improve the product and seeking user input for ideas on how to make it better.

I've beta tested (my list is too long to publish) many personal security packages, which have firewalls separately or in suites, and the only one that is Comodo's match is ZoneAlarm Pro - and ZAPro's a hoss! So, as a freebie, Comodo can not be touched and if it   e v e r  becomes a paid package, I'll buy it!

Hi Melih,
I was really surprised to see the CEO in the forum, actively involved in the postings and so concerned about the opinions of others. Congrats! Makes great impression.
I wanted to thank you all, guys, at Comodo for your great product, the Firewall, I mean. I haven't tried the full suite yet but I used the ZoneAlarm before Comodo and compared to it Comodo simply flies. I use my comp a lot and I am online a lot of the time, so I have experienced quite many hard blows from hackers and viruses. That's why I am using 2 antiviruses at the moment plus Comodo. The great thing is that they do not interfere and there is no slow down of comp performance. Your firewall has been great so far. The only suggestion is that maybe you can have some IP identification of the treats, I mean in ZA it said where the hack was coming from and that helped a lot to identify the 'bad guys'. Perhaps you can enhance this functionality, too.
Thanks once again for the great product and most of all, it is free! I have recommended it to several of my friends and I am planning to put a banner on my website.
Keep up the good work, guys! You are great!

Thanks George Smiley

We are constantly improving our products. We have a wish list per product in the forum. So you can put your wish about the firewall in the firewall wish list. Our developers work from that wishlist for future enhancements.

thanks
