Hi,Melih,Hi,everybody. I'm a new user of COMODO that from China, and I want to say it's a very very good personal firewall with high speed, high safety, and friendly humanity. I never used the COMODO firewall before untill I can't pass the pcflank.com's test with my Zone alarm 7 free editon, it's too worse than its pro editon. So I found C.O.M.O.D.O! And I can't even believable that a so good softeware like it can free to everyone! So if both ZA Free editon and COMODO are free, why don't I choose the better one?
It's protecting me now and make me more more safety. The firewall... the DEFENSE+..., oh, I'm fall in love with it now
And a little problem: Can I turn off the log? It's write hard disk so frequently(Pic show)
Last of all, I'm sorry for my bad English, and wish you can understand it
And last of last of all, may every people that using COMODO have more safty and more fun. Best wishes to you!
PS. Sorry, I forget tell you that my COMODO version is 3.0.9.229 and my OS is Vista.

Hello Melih and other members.
I just recently downloaded the latest version of Comodo firewall version 2.4.18.184 datebase 3.0. I find that this version is quite different than the original Comodo firewall I had tried almost 2 years or longer ago. This version is much more user friendly, very efficient, with the ultimate protection for my computer at no cost to me. I want to commend Comodo for making security protection available to all that want to take advantage of their services. I highly recommend this firewall to anyone who is considering changing their firewall program or getting a software firewall for the first time.

ARE YOU KIDDING? Basically I
your firewall for it's smooth and responsive, well built interface, the fact that it does EXACTLY what a firewall should. It handles connections efficiently and its protocol analysis is both accurate and perfectly protective in nature. It is so easy to make a rule for exactly what you want and specifically for the access you want to allow, or deny, based on everything from proper ports, to Host names, or IP addresses. Aside from the fact I can watch exactly how many connections I have open I can now see the exact amount of data being transfered right from my firewall GUI without the need for other software. It is an exceptionally well built software firewall which conform's to my sometimes over-zealous needs. IT IS PERFECT.....
I found this Firewall solution by accident while having issues with my rather costly Zone Alarm Security Suite as it kept crashing with the outrageous amount of connections we all sometimes have while downloading torrenting and streaming along the information highway. I am SO glad I found COMODO. I have tested alot of firewall solutions such as Outpost, Kerio, BlackIce, Norton, And Zonealarm to name a few, and none has given me such a perfect blend of useability and functionality as CFP. Good work guys and gals....Hope it continue's....if so I will definatly be spreading the word and remaining Loyal to Comodo only.....
Why do I love Comodo Firewall Pro? Well, all that, and who can forget....it's FREE.....

Hello,
I'm in the category of "extreme paranoid" net user !
Since my early days on the net, I was hacked and I would rather not "go there" right now.
But the outcome was personally devastating.
The point is, each time a new "FREE" security product hits the scene, it may seem ok for a while, then as it gets "better" my PC gets SLOWER.
All I want to to is work my Excel spreadhseets and learn more about VBA. I have no other practical use for the PC. I'm a number cruncher.
I got sick of the maniplulative on-line deals, "scan your pc for free" and then these warning message appear and then it say's "Remove", and after I have given away my email address, I need to pay to "remove suspicious cookies" etc etc etc.
Well, I got sick of all that and I heard about Linux and the Open Source Community and wondered if they have anything in Google I can try.
So here I am, this product is really cool to use, does not seem to compromise what I do and I can still use my old notebook PC and who cares if it's "old". It can add up using my spreadsheets and I'm happy. I don't use web-cams, I don't use all this other gizmo stuff. To me a PC is a glorified calculator and I use the for knowledge cos I newver liked going to the library. Most librarys either they don't provide coffee as convenient as it is in my own home.
However, I just checlked out my logs in COMODO for the first time. I really do not understand what degree of seriousness everything might mean, so I will be asking some very dumb and basic questions as I go along the way each day. Hope this is OK ?
Thank you VERY much for this product, I have read why it's free and you make alot of sense.
Now I can get on with the job of finishing my project, which started way way back in 1995, but like I said ealier in the piece, I have had nothing but problems with Operating Systems as we know or try to understand them along with the constant down-time due to security issues.
Thank you.

I installed the latest version of your firewall today, and I wanted to say I think it's great already. It's much simpler to configure. Thank you!

Comodo Firewall Pro v2.4 is fantastic. I've been using it for a long time and run various port scan and leak tests each month - it's never failed which is a surprise after being a ZoneAlarm advocate for so long. I was using Computer Associates Internet Security 2008 but uninstalled it and switched back to Comodo. I've used a lot of firewalls but Comodo appears to be the best.
It works well with the free Avast! version as well as Spyware Terminator which manages HIPS and also includes the freeware ClamAV virus scanner (yes, two virus scanners, but ClamAV isn't resident - just on demand). With Spyware Terminator, Avast! and Comodo's excellent v2.4 firewall, I've never had a security issue, virus, spyware, malware, adware or greyware.
I use freeware and save a packet, even recommending it on my website as the best freeware firewall and made sure it was the first application (
http://www.damienkane.com/Software.htm
).
I can't recommend v3 though. After install I had a lot of outgoing connection problems even on custom to bypass the whitelist. I've never been a fan of whitelists to be honest. v3 has some very good features including a cool animated tray icon, Defense+ and interface. I look forward to using the secure version. It failed leak tests including Comodo's CPIL (all three of them) and I also had issues with unsecure, unstealthed ports. Uninstall and reinstalling and using basic configuration was the same. Back to 2.4, but I'm not complaining! I have to wonder if Comodo will maintain and keep updating v2.4 (maybe v2.5 could include a quick registry cleaner and removal of Windows temp files and caches!)
Thanks Comodo for a great product. I really appreciate it. I'm a Comodo preacher these days.

Hello there, I hope you guys get to read this especially that you have probably millions of users writing on this forum.
Background: I was a long time user of ZoneAlarm (the Free version). With my interest in security, I came across leak tests. So i decided to go ahead and do some testing. I was very upset to see those leak tests pass the firewall. Then I decided to look for firewall comparisons.
So I came across Comodo Firewall 2.0. Ran the leak tests and NONE HAVE PASSED. It felt like I made a million dollars. I was one happy man. But the story goes on.................
So today I've decided to check if there are updates. By the way I use Windows XP SP2 32 bit. So Ok, I saw an update to 3.0. I looked up the new features on the comodo website. I was like WOW. But you can get everything perfect I suppose......
I use kernel level utilites to do stuff and one of them is to backup my hard drives. Such utility is the rsync famous backup utility (not for the everyday user). Well then, I installed the 3.0, and I chose Advanced. Everything went well for hours till I decided to do a backup.
1) rsync stopped working (could not get a valid file descriptor no more).
2) I tried using a higher level (not as powerful) back utility "Toucan" to backup, it did but ended up crashing my computer. I was MAD
3) Yes it was lovely to see the protection, but I loved the simplicity of 2.0, so thank god I made a backup with 2.0 installed that I revert back to.
The question is, which I came to a conclusion...DOES comodo firewall 3.0 block kernel level operations and if so, could I set it up not to. ( yes I know you can add trusted applications and so on). Please let me know
I LOVE YOUR FIREWALL. PLEASE READ ABOVE IF YOU DECIDED TO SKIP READING TILL THE LAST LINE. I REALLY WANT TO KNOW.
THANK YOU FOR SUCH GREAT PRODUCT. I'M HAPPY WITH YOUR PRODUCT.

Doesn't rsync running under cygwin use SSH for transfer? Did you set up rules for the SSH port?

Um, yes rsync can be setup to use SSH but you have to tell it to do so. I'm doing my backup locally not remotely. But even then, rsync stopped working since I installed 3.0. Works fine with 2.0. 3.0 is suite of apps bundled together (firewall, malware, and so on). I wish if they had the firewall separate rather than bundling it with other functionalities. I don't mind having malware and viruses running on my machine, I only care if they transfer data out (which is why I don't have an anti-virus, but only a firewall ). I don't just let them swim around my machine, but I like to test virus behaviors and eliminate them when necessary.

I forgot the mention that the issue were not related to ports. I did allow rsync to execute but still got the file descriptors errors. So I disabled both comodo's firewall 3.0 and their Anti-virus. I kept getting that error. Also, since I run rsync locally, it establishes connections on a trusted zone that I told comodo firewall to allow trusted zone transfers.
The question is: Did either or both the firewall and A/V modified or locked some kernel level access or registry (even though I disabled both)??
Thanks.

Hi everyone.
I hope I'm using this forum correctly. Forums confuse me more than firewalls do. LOL.
I've been using CFP since midyear 2006 and as one who is a basic user, not a rule writer I found CFP to be an excellent performer and easy to understand when viewing the various areas of information provided. Upon installing the CFP 3.0 I encountered two immediate problems which I lacked the knowledge to correct. Prob#1: a conflict with Webroot Spysweeper's email scanner. It was not allowed to connect through the correct ports to access my email at the server even after I put it in the user permission list. Prob#2: Defence+ would not allow me to add an unsigned application to the user permission list. The app named PopTray is a open source email notifier which I use to manually delete spam before reading it in my email client. The app is safe, containing no malware. Defence+ seems to be a little overprotective.
I didn't attempt any settings manipiluations that I was unfamiliar with for fear of making a real mess for myself. I resolved my problems by using XP restore function and will wait for more info to emerge within these forums. This is FYI and no response is neccessary. You've got an excellent firewall in CFP and I'm sure the bugs and shortcomings will be fixed soon.
