Hi Puniksem,
and welcome at the forums

My only concern is that the firewall does not have any advertisment blocking feature. which is the key feature to some other well known firewalls, this feature preventing the download of banners and advertising images, thus improving loading times of pages, and reducing the risk of drive-by downloads. The last suggestion would be to add a settings lock by means of a password to ward off accidental and malicious settings changes.
There is a poll about the plugins that the users would like to see in CFP
http://forums.comodo.com/index.php/topic,6216.0.html
go ahead and vote for those you like. Your need for blocking adds is covered there

I have been in the computing scene for 27 years and as far as internet security is concerned I have had the opportunity to test dozens of firewall applications and by far Comodo Firewall has been my best experience so far. I am looking forward to the development of Comodo and to help in the development in any way that I am capable.

Hello! I have to say that Comodo firewall is my #1 choice for a personal firewall and I am saying this cause it does an excellent job for protecting your computer with a very easy-to-use interface! I have tried other personal firewalls any they were all much harder to understand and didn't seem to protect very well. I love this firewall! I give it a 10/10! Thanks for this wonderful product and keep up the good work!

I like Comodo, but with Outpost being regarded as benchmark a few shortcomings should be noted (German version):
– missing menu / commands shortcuts (e.g., Ctrl + N to choose network monitor etc.) a critical issue not only for disabled persons;
– Navigation ( page down/up, Pos1, end) keys are disabled in all Monitor and control Windows, very annoying, everytime you have to use the scrollbar;
– unlike Outpost and ZA Comodo lacks preset-rules for many common applications, e.g. Free Download Manager, Microsoft Office Update calling Internet Explorer starting from Microsoft Office Word 2007 (even no network dialogue offered to user, though problem is showing up in Network monitor), Mozilla Firefox calling Internet Explorer via ExtrasMenu and vice versa, imho almost every common application calling IE to acess update sites or E-Mail-Links or Forum-Links, ...
- compatibility problem s with Dragon NaturallySpeaking (Version 7.15/Version 9.0), the most widespread speech to text and desktop control program, including handsfree Internet Explorer-Navigation: Comodo often takes away mouse and cursor focus, respectively, which is necessary to acess Navigation-keys (Page down, end ...). Everytime you have to click the mouse to reset window focus or use the scrollbar.
Any solutions would be gratefully acknowledged, Thank You

Sandra,
Preset rules - Comodo does have a version of this, and it's mostly active by default. Under Security/Advanced/Miscellaneous. 2nd box "Do not show alerts for applications..." is checked. This causes CFP to utilize Comodo's encrypted safelist.
If you go to Security/Tasks/Scan for Known Applications; follow the prompts. This will add some rules automatically to the Application Monitor for certain applications on the safelist. In version 3 this safelist will be MUCH MUCH larger and thus encompass even more applications.
The other side of the issue you mention is related not to application rules, but to Application Behavior Analysis. Applications calling one another (via email links, etc) is behavior that can be exploited/used by malware in trying to access the internet. It is tied in with the safelist; if either application is not on the list, it will trigger an alert. With v3, because of the size of the safelist, these popups will be virtually gone.
For issues with Dragon, you might check out this thread (only one I could find quickly).
http://forums.comodo.com/index.php/topic,6863.0.html
. Doesn't sound like your problem, but I thought I'd mention it. I'm not personally aware of CFP taking mouse/cursor focus... this might be related to your mouse settings within Windows.

Thank You for your quick answer. Two issues remain:
– missing shortcuts to control CF via keyboard; it's Standard in almost every Windows-Program.
- Navigation keys (page down, Pos1, end ...) don't work in CFs monitor windows at all, independt of on/off status of Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
- CF starts all time in half screen size and refuses to remember a choosen fullscreen modus; half screen is much to small to control any monitor window.
- Many programs, even CFs help modul (blocks Internet Explorer to call forum without any information or prompt), don't prompt for outgoing connections after a while, although activity monitor shows blocking. Outpost - learning from neighbours' practice - is much more reliable in controling known applications and managing allow /deny issues without forgetting to ask the user.
Thank You again

Hi Sandra:
– There's a reason why kb shortcuts weren't implemented:
http://forums.comodo.com/index.php/topic,6898.msg50523.html#msg50523
– Navigation keys. Another popular request. It's in a lot of the
wishlists
.
– Screen sizing. In the wishlist.
– This last point isn't quite clear to me. It could be that a related component or prior alert was denied. You can start a new topic in the CF
Help
board, unless Mac has a straight answer for you.

Shortcuts again - in hope of better feedback to disabled users!
(1) shortcuts are Windows Standard and a key comfort feature not only for disabled Users.
(2) except for CF there isn't any other Firewall that lacks menu and command/button shortcuts. Can You imagine why?
(3) Many Users want shortcuts, so why keeps Comodo ignoring them?

I came across CPF recently as my former subscription to an expensive Internet Security Suite was about to expire. I am really impressed at the quality of the product as well as for its efficency and ease of use not to mention its non-intrusive way of doing business. I definitely would recommend CPF to anyone in search of a good and reliable Firewall solution. For all this I just want to say THANK YOU Comodo for being there!
Warm regards from Costa Rica,

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to using any of Comodo's software but that doesn't mean that I haven't heard of it or had access to it ( On other people's PC's ). My experience has been very good with what I do know about Comodo. I just DL and installed the firewall an hour or so ago but that has given me enough info. to be able to say that I like it. Of course now that it's free has influenced my thoughts about installing it on this PC as well. When you're disabled and living on a very fixed income it's nice to see that there are companies out there that do what Comodo has done by making software programs free. I'm using AVG free for my Anti Virus program right now but intend to begin using Comodo's AV program as soon as I can remain sitting here long enough to install it. I've heard much good said about it too. So far I am very pleased with what I've seen regarding Comodo and will be with them for a long time to come. Good luck everyone! I'm glad to be a part of this forum too.

Welcome to the forums, Bill. Feel free to ask questions as you need, to geta better understanding of the software. Here's a good link (IMO) for firewall info all in one spot...
http://forums.comodo.com/index.php/topic,6167.0.html
.
Keep in mind with CAVS that however good it is now, it is still a Beta product, meaning it is still undergoing testing. User testing of a reasonably reliable product, but not without issues. I would advise thoroughly reading the BETA thread of the CAVS forum to get an idea of what users are experiencing, before installing. Keep in mind when doing so that we're on version 2.0.14.50; previous issues may no longer apply. I think it's a good product, a growing, improving product, but I also want to make sure you are aware of its current status...

Hi,
I had Kerio on a WinXP pro box, with Firefox. version 2.0.0.3.
Then Kerio went Sunbelt and updated. Firefox went to 2.0.0.4.
At that point Internet was disfuncional.
Ajusting Sunbelt FW was a menace, downgraden Firefox, No solution.
So I started to search for another FW and found Comodo.
Just installed it, worked fine and fast even with Firefox so I upgraded
Firefox again and . . . . nothing worked.
Looked at the log, and the rules, firefox was not permitted connection!
Changed the rules in a few minutes and it's working again.
NOW this is a simple to handle userinterface so my complements
and it is technically superior.
I will promote you!
