I am MCSA. I saw on microsoft.com that comodo company is recomened like certificate issuer which microsoft trusts. I went to a page and there I saw CPF. I it free was good enough  reason for dovnloading but from the moment download began I felt that this firewall is great. Can't tell why but I felt it, trust me, no bull****. It proved completely right. Nothhnig can pass that great firewall. I have recomended it to all my friends, but here where I live, vanity is part of mentality, and everyone, not only computer users and professional think they are the smartest one in the whole world. So it is kind difficult to persuade people to lissten your advices even they know you are right. But I will contionu to recommend CPF to all and COmodo group also to all people I know. Sincerely , Nebojsa from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

An excellent Firewall that passes all tests with distinction and it's FREE!!!
An outrstanding product, nothing negative to say about it, quite on the contrary.

If I may suggest an improvement, it would be nice to be able to password protect certain key features, like re-configuring or even shutting down the service.

Keep up the good work!  Clapping

I work as a computer technician at a mid-west tech college, and I have a lot of folks come to me asking about firewalls, and the biggest complaint I always hear, is that Firewall Programs are way too hard to use.  Most people don't understand the incoming and outgoing of traffic coming from their home network. Nice thing about Comodo is that its VERY user friendly and it even try to explain what it is trying to do.
No Firewall is prefect, that's just about impossible, but if it's easy enough to work with, then it's easy enough to figure out the issues.
Zone Alarm, in its early days, started out being such a program, but over the last few years, it has tried to be everything to everyone.  I used it up til last year and it had some many problems, ZA had so many excuses that I just gave up on them after many, many years. Since then I've been looking hard. Comodo sure seem to be heading in the right direction.  Cheers to Comodo for such a nice piece of software, and to top it off, it's FREE

Hi, i've downloaded the firewall because my provider advised me with a computer newsletter! Before that i used kerio, and jugh that was terrible because he saw a link in a newsletter to a site as a browser hijack. Terrible! Now i've got comodo firewall and this is perfect! You can do everything you want with preferences and stuff so:  I'm so glad with this firewall! (and now also with the AV)!

It's great! please keep going, to the top! Bounce

After many years of using ZA, several years as a paying customer, I finally was so fed up with all the problems it caused, I switched to Kerio Pro early in 2006. That was version 4.2.xxx and it worked without problems. Until this month when I had to renew my subscription...

That turned out to be a problem with the version I had: there was no renew button! Kerio support informed me that I had to upgrade to the latest version to be able to renew my subscription. I reluctantly followed their advice only to find out that 16-bit programs pose a severe problem. In many cases Kerio will block their execution even when they don't make use of the internet! Seeking advice concerning this issue, Kerio support confirmed what I experienced: "Unfortunately the newest version of the Kerio firewall is incompatible with 16 bit programs."

Since I am a long time computer user, I still have a few 16-bit programs that I use regularly and I don't like the idea of having to replace perfectly well working software with new versions just because a firewall stops supporting them.

That's when I started investigating other firewall options. A few searches on the internet showed me that there is a very good alternative available and that, to my surprise, it is free: Comodo!

I downloaded the program and installed it. Everything went smooth, no conflicts, no glitches. The "learning" warning screens are clear and straightforward. Comodo is no strain on resources and it quietly does its job. The only thing I had to do was create a new Network Control Rule because the program would, by default, block outgoing DNS requests on my system.

Tip for people who encounter the same problem: after creating the rule don't forget to move the new rule to a position in the list where other rules, e.g. rule 5, won't be able to catch it first.

In conclusion, so far I'm very pleased with Comodo and also with this forum.

well i have used a lot of firewalls and i keep on changing my firewalls every now and then.but everytime i come back to comodo firewall because it is really one of the best.it is light on resources, though i have 1gb ram  but still it doesn't indicate its presence.the user interface is really good[another reason i use it].though i like zone alarm too, but because it is relatively heavier on resources i prefer comodo.the only thing i would want improved in comodo is the number of alerts.it keeps on alerting about the same applications again and again which kinda gets irritating.rest is just fine with it.you guys are doing excellent job and giving the commercial firewalls a stiff competition Love Comodo

I recently came across your website after reading about you in someone's thread in one of my many forums, I thought about it for a while, read a few of others reviews and comments here, and decided to give it a try.

Firstly I would like to add that i am a 23 years experienced, qualified computer technician, and for many years have sworn by using only Symantec products, AV, firewall, password manager and so on, however after recent problems with Symantec products becoming unstable and further more UNRELIABLE, I decided it was about time I looked elsewhere for my security needs. Don't get me wrong, my liking for Norton firewall specifically was born out of it being capable of stopping ALL advertising banners thus allowing much more bandwidth for genuine material to be downloaded. good key feature! but...

Ever since the introduction of the 'Activation process' life with norton products has become a slippery and unreliable money-pit. It seems they care now less about protection and more about making monitary gains, when providing reliable product support.

So Hello Comodo.com! Who seem to care more about the users computing safeguards than profits alone, that itself spells out your intentions clearly to me.

I've not yet installed your Firewall or anti-virus suites, but have installed and grilled your 'Password manager' What a very well written and stable piece of software you have created there. I can't wait to install and test your other products!

Keep up the good work Comodo, I look forward in anticipation of getting to grips with the rest of your software.....  Well done!  A++++++ already from me.

OK, So I'm back to write you all my findings for the below mentioned products:

 SmileyComodo firewall:
After installing the firewall I was presented with an informative main display console, which at first glance informed me of the overall health of the firewall and it's functioning status, however I was soon asked to decide which programs were to be allowed internet access, even though the initial settings were to automatic.

My overall first impressions were one of scepticism because it's afterall a free product, until I took a closer look at the features of this FREE firewall. My only concern is that the firewall does not have any advertisment blocking feature. which is the key feature to some other well known firewalls, this feature preventing the download of banners and advertising images, thus improving loading times of pages, and reducing the risk of drive-by downloads. The last suggestion would be to add a settings lock by means of a password to ward off accidental and malicious settings changes.

 SmileyComodo Anti-Virus:
At first I'm wondering once again how a FREE virus scanner will perform against some of the licensed scanners on the market, at first glance like the firewall, seemed to have all the features you would expect from a purchased AV suite, I had some initial troubles where the scanning engine would not initiate when scanning the memory, and when I tried to update the AV-suite, the updater crashed 3 times, and would not complete the program updates. It did however sucessfully install the signature updates. All seems to be fine now after having run a full system wide scan. (nothing found)

Once again I recommend as an update suggestion would be to include a pre-installation scanner, this would elliminate any possible threats that could affect the installation.

 SmileyComodo Password manager:
This is truely a god-send for anyone who has a head full of passwords and usernames which most people aquire after a while of being an active member of the internet world. Simply a MUST have!

I did not intend this review to be a highly technical response to installing these products, what I do offer is an opinion from someone who has installed and 'crash-tested' just about every other anti-viri and security utility on the market. Not to sound like I'm sucking butt here, but to download and install Comodo products, you could do alot worse for your money, Oh yeh It's free too!

Lastly, I run a number of FREE websites, and will from now on actively plug the crap out of Comodo products.
