Steam is a launch/download/update program for a series of games, such as Half-Life (1 and 2), Counter-Strike, Red Orchestra and many other. The program is not on the trusted list and it's kind of hard to send over to you for the analysis, as the exe files are just launchers and the sub files sizes ranges from anything between 1,1 GB to 1 kb.
Might be hard to analyze this... but I'm pretty sure that Steam and all it's subfiles are safe.
