Melih,
What dooplex said on page 1 of this thread.  Clapping

What might this model look like for Comodo?  "Free Client, Commercial Centralised Management".  For example,

Personal Firewall: the client is provided for free, but offer a *separate* software package to run on a network server that could:

    * create, manage and distribute standardised firewall client policies
    * provide a central location for storing and distributing updates
    * provide remote logging facilities for all firewall clients (like syslogd)
    * be remotely accessible (e.g. via http or MMC)
    * (plus other ideas that our community can come up with!)

AntiVirus: the client is provided for free, but offer a *separate* software package to run on a network server that could:

    * create, manage and distribute standardised AV client policies
    * act as a centralised quarantine area for all clients
    * automatically forward suspicious files to Comodo
    * provide a central location for storing and distributing updates
    * provide remote logging facilities for all AV clients (like syslogd)
    * be remotely accessible (e.g. via http or MMC)
    * (plus other ideas that our community can come up with!)

Of course, it should be possible to run both the client and the server software on the same PC.  Ideally, the server software would reside on a Windows server (e.g. in a corporate environment).

Lastly, I would stress the importance of releasing the management software as a *completely separate* offering, and maintaining Comodo's image of providing outstanding end-user security software free of charge.

Melih,

I want to take here the opportunity to suggest something that might not generate revenues for Comodo directly, but indirectly may be, as it would make your company gain in popularity very quickly.
First let me say that I started a topic a few days ago, and that me and other users are still  expecting your visit one of these days:
https://forums.comodo.com/general_discussion_off_topic_anything_and_everything/cfp_30_seen_in_linux-t18816.0.html

the topic's about the need of a good firewall in Linux. If you ever decided to produce anything compatible with Linux - CFP would be welcome  Smiler - Comodo would be the first company bringing a first class security software to the OpenSource community. And, just as an example, CFP wouldn't have to be OpenSource for that, you might know it already: to implement software in Linux this software does NOT have to be OpenSource. I'm sure thousands and thousands of users would welcome the project enthusiastically. Now at the same time, you've provably read those articles in the Register and other places online about companies like Dell, HP (in the UK actually) and Lenovo - the three biggest OEM system vendors on earth - who started to sell computers and laptops preloaded with Linux, Ubuntu and OpenSuse in particular. I tell you more and more people are interested. The whole French administration is switching to Ubuntu and the French parliament already has. A man in France has well won a trial against Sharp Acer for forcing him to buy a laptop preloaded with Windows, and not be able to choose his OS freely.
OK back to topic, if Comodo was getting involved into Linux products for the desktop, it could have consequences for you on the server market (where you sell your SSL certificates, not only to hosted websites); and you don't ignore that 30 % of servers in this world are running Linux, including all Google servers. It could be a firewall but it could be a HIPS as well as Linux, imo, desperately lacks good security software. Avast and AVG versions for Linux are ridiculous, and totally unneeded, but HIPS and Firewall are needed in Linux, and they are not there. If Comodo products were to become popular in the Linux community, I can already imagine the chatting going on in the Ubuntu forums. The Ubuntu community is huge, and very well managed, even people from other Linux distributions go to post there. Well these were just my thoughts... Thinking

One other thing I wish to point, this isn't saying that Comodo need start to work this very second developing a firewall to run on Linux. Even an announcement of the sort would drum up popularity both in the Linux community as users would be anxious for its arrival and news of it, but also in the Windows community as people see that this great software is making the transition.  It would further encourage other users to try it and other companies to take notice of Comodo (the entire, well gee if they can do it why can't I syndrome).

In my opinion (that of a non business, non techie person), its a great business move..  Laugh

Well, an idea a had for another site would not require any changes to software.  Make a page on your website called "Suport us"(or some clever but descriptive title) that has ads on it.   The page would be the only place with ads and users can voluntarily click the page and view the ads.  It is similar to donating except that it doesn't require any money from the users.

A link could be included in the software somewhere. Entirely voluntary to click on.

我不知道什么时候comodo将发布中文版的V3手机。我所提供的一个连接到中文论坛,在这里。如果英语不是一种语言向您提供的,这些论坛可能可以帮忙。

I'm pretty sure Little Mac was trying to point out that you would have a far greater chance of having your question answered if it was posted in the forum board appropriate to your native language.

No need for  Angry.

Wei nihao (all the Chinese I know, and probably not transliterated correctly) ~

Hmm, when I read 421990481's post, the Chinese characters were legible.  Now they're all ?? Hmm, was I on another computer?  <scratches head>   Used Google translation tools to read the post, and respond, pointing to the Chinese forums.  Ah well, certainly I wasnt' trying to anger anyone...

How about this, although I'm stabbing myself in the foot - most FW and AV products forbid loading on servers unless a server version is purchased. Comodo is a good product for small networks (like mine) and the footprint and over-head is much less than the 'heavyweights' so you could make a charge that way (give me a free version for this tip) cheers - cafejava
