Hi, im trying to enable Media Sharing on my network using Windows Media Player 11. Microsoft says that these ports need to be ublocked for it to work:

1900
 UDP
 local subnet only

2869
 TCP
 local subnet only

10243
 TCP
 local subnet only

10280-10284
 UDP
 local subnet only

However I am a noob to Comodo and i cant find anywhere to unblock ports, i tried defining WMP 11 as a trusted application but that doesnt work either. Im using Windows XP SP3 and Comodo Firewall 3.0.25.378.

Media Sharing worked before i installed Comodo Firewall so i uninstalled Comodo to see what would happen and followed the other uninstalll directions on forum (to clear registry etc) and i still cant use Media Sharing!!!

It has somehow permanently blocked ports or something, its getting really annoying because i cant share with my Xbox 360 or other pcs on the network like i used to be able to.

Greetings!

First of all, if you haven't, set your PC to use a static IP.

Go to Firewall -> Advanced -> Network Security Policy -> Application Rules.

Add these rules for svchost.exe:

Action: Allow
Protocol: UDP
Direction: In
Source Address: Any
Destination Address: Your static IP
Source Port: Any
Destination Port: 1900

Action: Allow
Protocol: TCP
Direction: In
Source Address: Any
Destination Address: Your static IP
Source Port: Any
Destination Port: 2869

Action: Allow
Protocol: UDP
Direction: Out
Source Address: Your static IP
Destination Address: Any
Source Port: 1900
Destination Port: Any

Add these rules for wmpnetwk.exe:

Action: Allow
Protocol: UDP
Direction: In
Source Address: Any
Destination Address: Your static IP
Source Port: Any
Destination Port: 10280-10284

Action: Allow
Protocol: TCP
Direction: In
Source Address: Any
Destination Address: Your static IP
Source Port: Any
Destination Port: 10243

Action: Allow
Protocol: UDP
Direction: Out
Source Address: Your static IP
Destination Address: Any
Source Port: 10280-10284
Destination Port: Any

Now go to Firewall -> Common Tasks -> My Port Sets, and add a new one named Media Sharing.
Add the following ports:
1900
2869
10280-10284
10243

Go to the global rules, and add this rule (NOTE: Place it at the top):

Action: Allow
Protocol: TCP or UDP
Direction: In
Source Address: Any
Destination Address: Your static IP
Source Port: Any
Destination Port: (A set of ports) Media Sharing

If it doesn't work, please post a screenshot of your firewall events.

Cheers,
Ragwing

It didn't work, and there are no firewall events so i didn't take a screenshot.

Ill explain a bit more, I go into Windows Media Player, and click the arrow under Library and click Media Sharing, i then check 'Share my Media' and click 'ok' nothing happens for about 20 seconds and the same window is showing asking me wether i want to share my media, the same thing keeps happening whenever i click ok. The other pcs can media share fine between each other its only mine that is having issues.
