To the poster above:
Indeed, also, if I disable my network connection and leave comodo on, it works fine as well.
Really strange that the two would come in conflict. isn't it?
Also, it would be awesome if there was some kind of a fix.

First of all, go to
Advanced
-->
Miscellaneous
-->
Configure
and edit the amount of time for an alert to remain onscreen from the default 120 to 180. The means the alert will sit there for three minutes after it first appears. If you don't think that's long enough, change it to 240 or 300 or whatever you wish.
Then launch the game and when you get a blank screen, or the game won't start, exit and you should be able to see the alert which you can subsequently use to authorize the application.
If that doesn't work, go to Activity --> Logs, change the setting from "Today" to "Last 7 days" and then right click anywhere in the list and choose "Export HTML". Give it a name, save it somewhere and then open the file and look for items which are being blocked. If you can't identify them by their names, download IPNetInfo from
here
, type in the IP address and click OK. Double click the result and then compare the details to the game you're trying to play. If it relates to it in some way or other, add a rule to the "Network Monitor" menu to allow the appropriate IP/Port etc.

I solved the issue for Age of Empires (Conquerors Expansion) by adding age2_x1.exe to trusted applications (Security->Tasks->Define a New Trusted Application)

I am looking for help making PES (Pro evolution Soccer) Series to work online.
I'm unable to have PES 6 and PES 2008 to work online.
I think it uses UPnP, but it can be disabled in the settings.exe, and also it uses multiple UDP ports, but I guess this can be ranged, or, again forced to a single port in settings.exe
Anyway I can't get it to work... Even tweaking with "Allow invisible connection attemps" and "Skip advanced security checks"...
Any help warmly welcome!
I don't want that <brand censored> Firewall back on my PC...

Go to Start --> Run, type:
services.msc
and click OK. In the menu, scroll down to
SSDP Discovery Service
and make sure the Startup Type is set to "Automatic".
I note you've also posted your question in
another forum
which isn't really necessary.
Did you try doing what I suggested
here
?
Here's the
Wikipedia article on PES2008
in case it's useful for anybody else reading this post.

Thank you for taking time to answer me Zito,
The SSDP has been disabled since XP installation, this worked previously without this service running on my previous firewall.
Anyway I tested it, with no luck.
Even disabling UPnP in the options did not help.
Sorry for posting in another thread, I saw this one after, and as it was more recent, I decided to post again, because I had greater chandes of response, given that this one is still alive, while the others are long dead... Sorry again...
The time of the alert does cause any problems here, as I am able to run the game in windowed mode so I can see the pop-ups and answer then quickly.
I tried to look into the journal to see what is blocked, I reseted the journal, then made a try, got the error, then saved the log, analysed, and nothing useful, only things, I tend ro consider, that happen normally on any network.
Nothing related to the game in the logs.
The wikipedia does not help much about the firewall or network settings...
Thanks for your help Zito,
If you think of another thing, you're welcome

I rechecked the logs again and It looks like there are outgoing IGMP requests that are blocked...
Do you think this can be that? IGMP is used to access a multicast group... So this might be it...
At first I though it was IGRP... poor me...
I did set up a rule for that allowing IGMP Out from my IP to that multicast address with no success...
Any help?

I see as blocked in the logs :
- TCP In : nbsess(139)
This one is related to Windows NetBUI, so I guess it's a good thing to have it blocked.
However NetBUI and all sharing is disabled on my PC, port 139 is not shown in netstat -an.
- TCP In : MS-ds(445)
This one is opened according to netstat -an :
TCP 0.0.0.0:445 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
UDP 0.0.0.0:445 *:*
But I guess this is not related to the game...
- TCP In : ms-rpc(135)
Is also blocked, but the portmapper is running on my PC and listening :
Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP 0.0.0.0:135 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
I'm not sure this is used by the game...
Any ideas?
I am still wondering why the game seems to use IGMP multicast, as I disabled UPnP in the options of the game...

GOT PES To WORK!
No need to enable SSDP !, So, here is the setup for PES 2008 :
1. go to settings.exe in PES directory
- disable UPnP
- Set to a fixed port, i.e. 5739
2. Create 3 rules in Network Monitor :
- Allow UDP IN/OUT (on top)
From IP: All
To IP: All
From: port All
To port: 5739, 1900
- Allow UDP IN (on top)
From IP: 210.249.144.167
To IP: your_ip_address
From: port All
To port: range 10044-10048
- Allow IP-IGMP OUT (above the last rule that block all IP)
From IP: your_ip_address
To IP: 224.0.0.22
3. Allow PES2008.exe in Application Monitor when asked for it (twice).
The first rule is maybe a bit unrestrictive, and I'll try to optimise it and keep you posted...
Right now I think of allowing UDP IN with source All:All destination my_ip_address:5739,1900

Has anyone got the newest version of Comodo Firewall to successfully work with Red Alert 2?
I am willing to try out whatever anyone has. Currently everytime I try to open Red Alert 2 it states I don't have permissions to the file "Ra2.exe" which I know is incorrect. It has something to do with Defense+. As soon as I disable it, the game runs just fine.
Any suggestions?
