I had to repost the script... wrong version first...
Didn't create anything in "prior" folder... works now. Grin

As soon as we get our hands on the next version,we'll test and post the results back here.

Cheers,
Ewen :-)

G'day,

Egemen has told me that V2.4 will have the same registry structure, so the REG file will work but, in addition to having to turn off registry protection, the firewall has to be temporarily set to "ALLOW ALL". This is the same as the current beta.

Hope this helps,
Ewen :-)

So what does this script back up? Will all the things in my application monitor be back, and will all my component monitor stuff be there too?

As far as i know, everything in that registry directory holds the settings for everything to do with Comodo firewall.

Thanks for the script and for ensuring I did not have a major headache today.
Without the registry backup I would have had to spend time working out the settings for my network again.
p.s. What exactly is error 106, that is all I got when I try to update from V2.3.6.81.

i had problem today updating to latest "Final" Comodo version (from latest beta/rc to v2.4 final)

What i do is :
. Before to uninstall the latest beta, i made a backup of my settings with the script.
. I removed the beta and installed the v2.4 final (french version).
. I execute the reg file containing the saved settings (comodo was closed).
. When i open Comodo: no rules, no settings, etc... no rules were recovered, comodo was all empty and a red alert message like protection=bad...

I think the settings from the beta are not useable with final version (maybe language is the cause, coz the beta was in english and the final i use is in french ?).

Finally I did a clean install and i must configure manually all the rules.
Its bad, but its the only thing i could do...

Any idea about the script and latest version ?

G'day,

Sorry, but it does work with the release version, Have a look at

http://forums.comodo.com/index.php/topic,2366.msg38844.html#msg38844

where we details the two steps you have to do to import the rulesets into V2.4.

Yes, it will be built into a future release, probably version 3.

You can read the first post in this thread, where there is some new info about the script.
Normally you don't need to close the firewall.
Just these two things is needed.

NOTE:   When restoring, you need to go to SECURITY - ADVANCED - MISCELLANEOUS and turn off "Protect own registry keys" before importing.
You also need to set the firewall to "allow all".

REBOOT!

GREAT SCRIPT!!! :-)
Anyway - I had to fit this script to my needs (mainly because I have a non-English Windows). I modified it in a way that there is no more duplicate code and the target folder can be setup in *one* position. Maybe other's find this useful, too.
Code:
[ at ]echo off
cls
set BACKUP_ROOT=D:\Backup\CPFBackup
echo ********************************************************
echo The settings are backed up to %BACKUP_ROOT%\CPFRUles.REG
echo Merge the "CPFrules.reg" file back, to restore settings
echo ********************************************************
echo To start press enter. To quit press the "x" button on this window
pause >nul:

if not exist "%BACKUP_ROOT%"       goto DoInit
if not exist "%BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior" goto DoInit
goto DoBackup

rem -----
:DoBackup
rem -----
echo Clearing oldest and storing previous backup... please wait.
if exist "%BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior\CPFRUles.REG" del "%BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior\CPFRUles.REG" >nul:
copy "%BACKUP_ROOT%\CPFRUles.REG" "%BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior\CPFRUles.REG" >nul:
goto DoSaveReg

rem ---
:DoInit
rem ---
echo Creating backup folders (initialising)... please wait.
if not exist "%BACKUP_ROOT%"       md "%BACKUP_ROOT%"
if not exist "%BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior" md "%BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior"

rem ------
:DoSaveReg
rem ------
echo Archiving current rule set... please wait.
REGEDIT /E "%BACKUP_ROOT%\CPFRUles.REG" "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Personal Firewall"

echo DONE!
echo Press any key to end
pause >nul:
With regards, Morten.

If you could PM myself or Panic, myself or AOwl with the lines that have changed (I'm tired and lazy ATM  Tongue ) and what specific language this is for, then one of us could change the original post and give credit to MortenMacFly (If you want credit/to be mentioned some people do not for various reasons) for the specific changes.

You are highlighting the best reasons for open source software!!

Thankyou for posting your setups script!!

G'day Morten,

Nice mods to the script. One small suggested change (shown below in red), instead of using "del" and "copy", use "move /Y". This removes a couple of lines and also ensures the folder to store the current backup is empty, prior to archiving. Also added a few comment about what needs to be done to the fireall prior to running the script.

***************************************

[ at ] echo off
cls
set BACKUP_ROOT=D:\Backup\CPFBackup
echo ********************************************************
echo The settings are backed up to %BACKUP_ROOT%\CPFRUles.REG
echo Merge the "CPFrules.reg" file back, to restore settings
echo.
echo.
echo Please ensure that you have disabled CFP's registry protection
echo and set the firewall to "Allow All" before continuing.

echo ********************************************************
echo To start press enter. To quit press the "x" button on this window
pause >nul:

if not exist "%BACKUP_ROOT%"       goto DoInit
if not exist "%BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior" goto DoInit
goto DoBackup

rem -----
:DoBackup
rem -----
echo Clearing oldest and storing previous backup... please wait.
if exist "%BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior\CPFRUles.REG" move /Y "%BACKUP_ROOT%\CPFRUles.REG %BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior\CPFRUles.REG" >nul:
goto DoSaveReg

rem ---
:DoInit
rem ---
echo Creating backup folders (initialising)... please wait.
if not exist "%BACKUP_ROOT%"       md "%BACKUP_ROOT%"
if not exist "%BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior" md "%BACKUP_ROOT%\Prior"

rem ------
:DoSaveReg
rem ------
echo Archiving current rule set... please wait.
REGEDIT /E "%BACKUP_ROOT%\CPFRUles.REG" "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Personal Firewall"

echo DONE!
echo Press any key to end
pause >nul:

**************************************************

what think?
