Thanks for the help!  I just saw the uploaded bats on the first post.  I chose to use v1.1

When upgrading to the latest beta, why does CPF always erase all the settings?

When a program gets uninstalled it should erase all the tracks from it.
Since beta's can't update, and you have to uninstall, everything gets erased.
With the backup script, it's no longer a problem. Grin

I slightly disagree. The best option IMO is offering to keep some things like settings or clean everything. Some software offer this. It is true most software leave crumbles behind and don't even tell the user how to remove what is left behind.

I hope that CF soon? implement the backup rules possibility, and as you say, an option to keep the settings, if wanted.

great and very good idea !
Big thanx for this utility . i encountered the Quotation problem at first run, but when I edited+quoted all path , it worked fine ... I used the v1.2

You should maybe update your files in the first post of this thread...with quoted path

Thank you

Ok, well that has been added.  I have taken a long way around when it really just needed quotes.  I thought i might take the simplest way with the quotes but then it occurred to me that the the longer way explains what is happening a bit better.

Anyway, this one works as the only thing changed was the directory and it working on my comp (created the directory properly).

cheers, rotty

again, thank you very much ....
There is just a thing, about the new destination dir:

I'm french and my "Desktop" dir is not called "Desktop" but "Bureau", and i think all non english windows will have a different word for the "Desktop" dir.
My path to desktop is "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur\Bureau" (in french)

So:
> maybe there is a var to the desktop dir, like %desktop%

> Just an idea, maybe it would be better to store in the "All Users" directory instead of "%USERNAME%" coz comodo config files are all stored in All users\Application data...
But I will just edit the file this way for using myself coz its what i prefer ...

Great tool .... just continue this way Rotty !!

I suggest using one of these enviroment variables to store CPF data:

Quote
APPDATA=C:\Documents and Settings\djet\Application Data
USERPROFILE=C:\Documents and Settings\djet

ALLUSERSPROFILE is not recommended as it's ACL doesn't allow writes to plain users.

It will make the script platform-independent (in Microsoft way, of course).  Hug

G'day,

That's why I originally thought of using just plain old "c:\" as the destination. Everyone's got one of those and they're called the same thing in all languages and there are no security restrictions imposed on it by the O/S.

Love the "from Russia with lags" line!  Laugh

cheers,
Ewen :-)

Will this work with the official build on 2.4 or 2.5 once it's released?

As soon as we get our hands on the next version,we'll test and post the results back here.

Can I post the Swedish version of 1.5 in the Swedish forum?
Except for translating the text, I had to change the output since our Desktop is called Skrivbord.
