This has been covered in other places I know, but I still have some concerns. Please tell me I'm being paranoid, which with security can be a Good Thing. No really!

Anyway, when I reboot Comodo starts (if I run 'devmgmt.msc' both Comodo network and application engines are running) but no icon appears in the system tray. I would like it to be there, but it's OK if it's not if the firewall is running.

However, when I open the Comodo main interface it immediately checks and asks permissions for the programmes that are running eg firefox, thunderbird etc etc. Why is the firewall doing that? I would have thought it would already know these prgrammes were running. Yes?

Welcome to the forum, hypotaxis.

1) When you installed CFP, did you disable the other software to avoid conflicts?  The safest way is to install in safe mode.  This has also been reported to have something to do with programs that delete the CFP startup entry in the registry.  There should be one like this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run with the String value "C:\Program Files\Comodo\Firewall\CPF.exe" /background

2) I think what you mean is that you've already created Application Monitor rules to allow those programs internet access, but wondering why there are still CFP alerts?  Is that correct?  If so check this out: ** FAQs/Threads - Read Me First **:

Constantly Same Alerts / Doesn't Remember Rules

But if what you mean is why these aren't in the safe application database, it's because v2.4 hasn't updated it yet.

Hi brasil, welcome to the forum Wave.

I merged your thread with this one because it's recent.  Please see if my above solution helps.

I'll add this to the FAQ.
