How to uninstall Comodo Firewall?

Beware

If you follow these uninstall instructions, not only won't you be able to uninstall, you will destroy your system.

If you try to uninstall manually (by editing it out of the registry), you will destroy your internet connection.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to get rid of this software (err, crapware) other than a clean re-install of your system.

...and as far as I can tell, it is possible to uninstall CFP without reinstalling Windows. I would ask for help (though I can probably not help you, haven't used version 2.4 in a year now) before calling it crapware in my first post at this forum.

I guess I should have called it the greatest software that I ever installed forever and ever because it has no uninstaller.

My fault and you're right.  I was WAY out of line.

I guess my problem is that I have come to expect certain basic functionality in the software I use and when that's missing, I get a bit testy. 

I am very, very sorry I offended your (obviously tender) sensibilities.  Won't ever happen again.

Oh, did I mention that the reason I got into this mess in the first place (and the reason I'm using an outdated version, as you so rightly pointed out) is that the software's update function also ceased to function?

And did I mention that when it failed to update it would shut down my ports and prevent my from accessing the DSL modem?

Actually, the only reason I avoided more colorful expletives in MY FIRST POST EVER, was that I didn't want it deleted before I could inform at least a few other potential victims about this unbelievably marvelous example software engineering prowess at its absolute best without any equal anywhere, on this world or others.

BTW, since you're quite obviously being paid to defend this product, I'm really, really sorry you have a crap job at a crap company making crapware.

There isn't much right in your post.

1) You don't have to call it the greatest software ever.
2) You're not necessarily wrong and I'm not necessarily right.
3) I'm not in any way paid by Comodo to do this. I'm sure you can read: "Forum Volunteer".

With your attitude you won't come far here. You are still welcome to post (within the frame of the forum policy of course), but as for today, don't expect me trying to help you. You had your chance to kindly ask for help in your second post but you blew it. Let's hope for someone else to step in.

Sorry to correct you, but I am definitely not wrong and you are definitely not right.

Fact: the software has no uninstall.

Fact: the uninstall files posted to this forum do not work.

Fact: trying to strip the software out of the registry manually (also suggested in this forum) destroys your internet connection.

If you have any doubt about these facts, the mere existence of this thread should remove any doubt.

As to my attitude, I am not in the habit of begging for help.

What I am in the habit of doing, is berating people who try to defend the indefensible.

The fact is that the software you are trying to defend has serous problems.

The way to address these problems is not to try to make its users (or, in my case, ex-users) out to be idiots.

The way to address them is to address them.

And I can read just fine.  It’s simply difficult for me to believe that someone would be trying this hard for free.

Well, while you folks go at each others throats let me get this forum on track with a new problem uninstalling Comodo Firewall.

The new one is a result of the latest update of the firewall last week.  Suddenly the Firewall Systray icon disappeared and I wasn't sure the firewall was working at all, though Windows Security Center still listed it as active.

Tried to restart the firewall from the program files listing (Start menu) and I got the following error:

Error while loading resources from C:\Program Files\COMODO\Firewall\cfp.dll.  Aborting application

Tried to stop the COMODO firewall through services . . . same error.

Now I'm fed up and decide to uninstall COMODO.  Go to the Uninstall link.  Same error.  Try to uninstall through Add/Remove Programs.  Same error.

I go to the referenced folder above and find no such file listed.  No CFP.DLL.  Not present in the repair folder, either.

Download the lasted COMODO Inernet Security offering and try installing over the previous version.  It detects the previous firewall and offers to uninstall it.  Click Yes and the same error message.

So I'm at a loss.  I've re-enabled Windows Firewall, but I miss Comodo.  How do I uninstall it, or correct the initial problem of a missing CFP.DLL to get it up and running?

Unfortunately I also have the same problem, except in my case it says a different program is missing.  I

When I try to start my Firewall I get the message:

I tried to reinstall, but it says that previous version has to be uninstalled.  I get the same message when I try to uninstall.

I had accidently blocked "emgautoupd.exe" earlier.  I do not know how to unblock it.  Please help.
