Need some help/advice please.

I just installed Comodo Antivirus on a Windows 2000 server and now it is running slow, like it took about 15 minutes for the desktop to appear.  Prior to installing Comodo I had Mcaffee Antivirus 2005 and Firewall installed, I did uninstall them using the add/remove programs in windows.

System specs:
Windows 2000 Server standard sp4 fully updated
500 mb RAM
AMD 550 MHZ processor
SQL Server 2000
Office 2003

Any ideas what could be causing this?  Is this Antivirus compatible with Windows 2000 server?  Did the Mcaffee install leave something behind? Help! Smiley

Thanks,
Kent

G'day Kent,

I don't know about the Windows 2000 Server compatibility, but McAffee and Nortons are mongrels for leaving crap behind. Snoop around the registry and you'll see what I mean. Hand pruning of the registry is one way to ensure that you are a NAV-free zone!

If you find that your registry is clean (or as clean as a Windows registry can be LOL) and the startup is still slow,, please send an email to support[ at ]comodo.com with as much technical detail as you feel may help the support guys. Let them have a crack at it. They have been incredibly responsive to date, particularly considering these apps are freeware.

P.S. Welcome to the forums.

Hope this helps,
Ewen :-)

Thanks Ewen,

I ended up uninstalling Comodo and everything is running normally again.  I'll send an email to support because I would like to use this product.
