Comodo backup works great manually but I have two questions:

1. How do I get Comodo to backup using the full path of the original folders? Now it dumps all folders I backup into the same folder mixing up everything. Some folders originate from program files, others from documents and settings and others from other places. It would be great if I could keep that structure.

2. Schedule doesnt seem to work. I deinstalled the launchpad since I hate startup apps but is it required? I hope it uses the builtin scheduler in XP.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can get Comodo Backup to include your path in the backup.  I have not been able to find a way to do it.  It does include the folder name of your backup in your specified  Backup Name but not the full path.  You may want to post this request in the wishlist for Comodo Backup.  Hopefully we will have a new version coming soon.

Launchpad should not affect the scheduler.  Please make sure that you have the service "ComodoBackupService" running and on automatic.  You can find it start -> run -> services.msc.  If it is not listed here you may have to reinstall CB.  If it is there but not running you can start it and test it out again.

If you used the uninstaller for Launchpad you may have taken out some of the Backup files as well.  The most effective way is to delete the folder for Comodo Launchpad.  If you want the registry entries removed they are in HKLM\Software\Comodo, and HKLM\Software\ComodoGroup.  Just remove the Launchpad entries.

**Always backup registry before revising**.  You can export these keys to your desktop before removal.  If any problems then you can doubleclick the exported entries and they will be reinstalled.

I don't think it is using the XP scheduler as it is not listed in scheduled tasks in the control panel.  ( I could be mistaken here though).

Hope this has been some help to you.

Thanks.

I'll request the first feature. Also I checked and I have no services running named Comodo...I'll reinstall later and uninstall launchpad as you described

Hi jaspov

That surprised me that you had no service running at all.  I did some searching and found a post that may help you.

Thanks for the help. I solved it yesterday. I had downloaded Comodo again from comodo.com to be sure I had latest version. problem is that the version on comodo.com is still 1.0.0.1.

I then went back to forums here and noticed  1.0.1.10 was posted only here, and it solves service not running. I also see someone else has already mentioned this in the thread on 1.0.1.10

Glad you got it going jaspov

I had thought of that after I logged off yesterday and was going to ask what version you had when I came back on.
I hope you enjoy Comodo Backup.  I have found it very reliable and virtually trouble free - once I got it set up right.
