Defence + keeps defaulting to disabled

Defence + keeps defaulting to disabled. When I change it to clean PC it will stay on that setting, but the Summery screen still reports disabled and the events list shows it as inactive. After a reboot its back to disabled again. Any ideas as to how to get it to retain settings?
