Hello Guys and Dolls

Have you had issues installing comodo personal firewall, does this error dialog appears when start the installation:

"You seem to be having Comodo Firewall installed using older version of installer"
Please go to->Start->control panel Add or Remove programs section and un-install Comodo Firewall."

Let me guess you have un-installed comodo personal firewall and the no trace of it in Add or Remove programs. Well this might be the solution:

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. I cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Please be sure that you backup your registry before making any changes

If you don't know how to backup your registry, this link tells you how to: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756

Enter Regedit (press start, run, type regedit and press enter)

Next you are looking for Comodo Personal Firewall installation entries, searching for these entries won't help because the regedit search function doesn't search the whole registry only certain parts of it.

We are looking this key:
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Personal Firewall

Now you must make sure that you have tried everything else to uninstall Comodo Personal Firewall, make sure the Comodo program file has been removed from:
Code:
Drive letter:\Program Files

If this is your last resort you will need to delete this key, right-click the Personal Firewall key and select delete. Once you have done this close regedit and try again to install Comodo Personal Firewall.

Hope this helps

Thank you, Sir Entente.
Welcome to the forum.

Personally I use a reg cleaner between installs.
That is not risk free though, because some reg cleaners tend to clean out "too much"... Wink they are too aggressive.
The one I use between installs is Easycleaner, because it's among the "nicest" of the one's I've tried. It has never caused any problems for me.
I occasionally use CCleaner, because it finds more, but with some caution.
