My Windows Mail unsuccessfull attempts
«

December 11, 2008, 06:59:13 PM »
Hi,
I'm trying to get CSE2 to work with my Windows Mail (and also tried with Windows Live Mail), but CSE does not seem to monitor connections, no matter what I set. I'm on Vista SP1 32bit and I have Comodo Internet Security enabled.
Currently I am aiming at signing my outgoing e-mail only, so I set up a SMTP port in CSE:
CSE Server port: 465
CSE Client port: 465
CSE Mail server: smtp.gmail.com
CSE SSL: ON
WM SMTP port: 465
WM Mail server :smtp.gmail.com
WM SSL: OFF
This does not work. WM is connecting to google server, but since there's no SSL enabled, it fails.
Following recent suggestions I tried to change the client port:
CSE Server port: 465
CSE Client port: 1000
CSE Mail server: smtp.gmail.com
CSE SSL: ON
WM SMTP port: 1000
WM Mail server: smtp.gmail.com
WM SSL: OFF
This does not work either. WM is trying to connect to google server on port 1000, and obviously fails.
Are there any known issues with the above mail clients?
While writing this post I also downloaded Thunderbird and tried to send mail via plain, unsecured SMTP connection on port 25 using my other account (certificate is configured in CSE):
CSE Server port: 25
CSE SSL: OFF
TB Server port: 25
TB SSL: OFF
Unfortunately e-mail was passed through succesfully, unsigned, completely bypassing CSE.
It seems that my CSE is completely ignored... I tried to reinstall, but to no avail.
Thanks for any help!

Removing possible remains of a previous LSP installation ...
Entered CleanLspInstallation function...
RemoveProvider - WSCDeinstallProvider(2) Function Failed with error code [10014]
RelocateFile - source: C:\Program Files\Comodo\SecureEmail\CEmLSP.dll, destination: C:\Windows\system32\CEmLSP.dll
RelocateFile - Check if folder exists: C:\Windows\system32
RelocateFile succeeded.
Comodo LSP - Creating Backup.
Installed: [1047] C
Comodo LSP installed successfully.
Entered InstallInformer function...
Informer folder path not supplied - use defaults ...\Program Files\Comodo\Common\
RelocateFile - source: C:\Program Files\Comodo\SecureEmail\MessagesInformer.dll, destination: C:\Program Files\Comodo\Common\MessagesInformer.dll
RelocateFile - Check if folder exists: C:\Program Files\Comodo\Common
RelocateFile succeeded.
I tried to look for the LSP via msinfo32 (as suggested in one of the posts), but it doesn't seem to be there. It is however in the registry...

Hi,
Thanks for that. I look forward to hearing from you!
One additional thought - CSE is installed on laptop, which has 3 network connections:
LAN - unused but enabled (however disabling it doesn't make a difference really)
WLAN - used and enabled
Bluetooth - unused and disabled
Is it possible that LSP is chained into LAN instead of WLAN?
Also, as I recall now, i have both IPv4 and IPv6 enabled in the network properties - could that make a difference?
Regards,
Chris

Hi there!
Did you have any luck with this? I'm still struggling to make CSE to intercept messages from any of my e-mail clients
Is there any way to enable some logging in CSE (like debug traces) - maybe that would show me where's the problem...
Regards,
Chris

Hi, Chris
We suspect that IPv6 can be the problem.
I've attached utility to show LSP installed on your PC.
Can you run it and post here screenshot of your list of providers, please?
Thanks in advance:)
Regards, Eugene

Hi there!
Sorry for such a long delay. Anyway, I tried the most recent version today (2.0.0.10), with no success, unfortunately. And I still don't know what's wrong with my computer.
Here's what I did:
1. Disabled IPv6 in Vista via registry. (Reboot)
2. Unchecked IPv6 for each network card. (Reboot)
3. Uninstalled old version and cleared the settings. (Reboot)
4. Installed 2.0.0.10. (Reboot)
5. Configured 2.0.0.10.
6. Tried to send an e-mail - it seems that port is still not being monitored.
7. Ran the SpOrder utility.
Here are the details:
a) Installation log:
Code:
Comodo LSP Installation Started - 05-06-2009, 22:04:53
STARTED Comodo LSP installation - InstallLSP function entered...
Source folder - C:\Program Files\Comodo\SecureEmail, informer path -

Removing possible remains of a previous LSP installation ...

RemoveProvider - WSCDeinstallProvider(2) Function Failed with error code [10014]
RelocateFile - source: C:\Program Files\Comodo\SecureEmail\CEmLSP.dll, destination: C:\Windows\system32\CEmLSP.dll
RelocateFile - Check if folder exists: C:\Windows\system32
RelocateFile succeeded.
Comodo LSP - Creating Backup.
Installed: [6566] C
Comodo LSP installed successfully.
Entered InstallInformer function...
Informer folder path not supplied - use defaults ...\Program Files\Comodo\Common\
RelocateFile - source: C:\Program Files\Comodo\SecureEmail\MessagesInformer.dll, destination: C:\Program Files\Comodo\Common\MessagesInformer.dll
RelocateFile - Check if folder exists: C:\Program Files\Comodo\Common
RelocateFile succeeded.
b) SpOrder - Service Providers: attachment list.png
c) SpOrder - details of your provider: attachment details.png
d) SpOrder - Name Resolution: attachment name.png
e) Comodo protocol settings: attachment comodo.png
f) Error message in the client: attachment error.png
I've read somewhere that you have a diagnostic version somewhere - I am ready to try that.
Thanks!

No problem, we appreciate any info at any time
.
We are analysing your screenshots and will find problem.
We'll send diagnostic version with additional logging of potential problem parts if we will be unable to find the problem.
Thanks for your response.

One thing I noticed now when I installed CSE on another machine with 64bit Vista (where it works!) that there are some additional layered providers installed. Please see attached (4 at the top). They are missing on my machine (where it doesn't work).

Hi Krzyk,
WE suspect that the problem is linked with "Dostawca uslug" LSP installed on your PC.
Can you tell us, please, what is it and where can we get it for the testing purposes?
Regards, Eugene.

Hi Eugene,
That comes with my Vista (it's Polish Vista). "Dostawca uslug" means "Service provider" and these 4 are the same as the ones I have on my English Vista at work (all point mswsock.dll). Do you suspect that localization of those Windows components may be a culprit here? I can check how the installation goes after I change all possible regional settings for user and system accounts to EN-US. Also, I'm happy to run any customized debug LSP installers from you guys.
Thanks,
Krzyk
