Half my files and folders are inaccessible after back-up failure message

  15,000 documents and less than half are accessible after back-up failure. Message says backup did not complee successfully - a writer did not respond to GatherWriterStatus call. Do I try to backup again?

Please give us more details such as:
 - where are you trying to backup?
 - what is the approximate size of the files you are trying to backup?
 - are you using .cbu file format backup?
 - any other non-default settings you might have used.
