I'm trying to install 952954 & 953838
Those were the only other updates I installed, but with no problems Angel

There are files to kill after each update, but there's another thread for that.

I installed the fix for Vulnerability in Microsoft Windows Image Color Management System Could Allow Remote Code Execution (952954) and Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (953838) (I still have IE6).
The Vulnerabilities in Event System Could Allow Remote Code Execution (950974) isn't needed, as it only affect people with System Event Notification and COM+ Event System. I don't even have the services or the .dll-files.

As long as you haven't corrupted Windows Intaller, DCOM Process Launcher or Cryptographic Services, you should be able to install the updates.

I didn't have any of those services enabled and I still was able to install the updates Grin

Really? I thought it was needed since I once had a problem with Cryptographic Services that made me unable to update...

It's possible that Soya had Cryptographic Services set to manual, thus it may have been started during update. Or I could be wrong. At least I've also noticed the Windows Installer (and DCOM Process Launcher) isn't necessary.

Technet is the best for downloading manual security updates.  What's the best for downloading manual optional updates? Thinking

If you use advanced search, you can choose which product you want to show updates for (like Windows XP), and sort them after release date.

Same here, but that would probably send out updates that M$ thinks you need, when you in fact don't need a certain update because you nLited away the very function it addresses?
