I timed my bootup and now it was 29.56 sec

You must've removed half of Vista to get that Grin

Is that really such a great time? I got my Vista Home Premium down to about 25 seconds (and i only have one account so i usually don't even see the welcome screen b/c it's already loaded).

All i did was some basic tweaking (mostly disabling a lot of unnecessary services. plus i only have CIS/erunt on run startup)   Smiley

i didn't think it was such a great time.

How do you guys measure?
I mean, you count the time to get to welcome screen + the time to type in pass + the time for everything to load.
Or you remove the pase were you type the pass? or some of the other..?
Iam positive that my comp will load the fastest of the vista contenders (even if not too tweaked).

Well I have a CoreQuad 6600 OC'ed to 3.2 Ghz. 4 GB of RAM. Some BIOS'es load slower than other  Smiley

I took the time from the push of start button, till I saw the desktop with CIS icon (since it's the only thing that loads on startup)

The password time doesn't count, since I don't use one  Grin

Btw, I found out the size of that .pf file and it's 547 KB. Not too bad for Vista  Cool Can't find the .ini though  Roll Eyes

Oh, I don't count the BIOS screen. I count from seeing the windows vista loading bar to the desktop (all my apps including cis task bar icon are running by the time i see the desktop). and i don't use a password either. Smiley

There are a zillion things one can tweak to kill boot time.  Interested in a new thread or one of LA's old ones?

Pfffft.  That's cheating.  If I were to do that mine would be 9 seconds, no joke.

Ha!  Your true faces are shown Evil

My BIOS is the one that can't tweak any further unless I replace the motherboard/processor and it's always 12 seconds Angry

Measuring from one second after pushing button (so I hear the HDD start) but obviously before BIOS: 27+6 seconds I think. Star

ya its the time that it takes to get to the login that takes time..

Iam shocked that you guys don't use a password. It makes it harder to remote exploit hack the computer somehow sometimes, at least that what I read. (I could be wrong tho). Anyway it keeps my mother away!  Grin Grin
