Ok.. anyone know of an easy way for a n00b to try and overclock? Have never overclocked before and I am looking to try and OC this video card and maybe my CPU on a different computer.

http://overclock.net/graphics-cards-general/9916-ati-nvidia-overclocking-guide-all-you.html

.. and you probably want Rivatuner (something that he doesn't mention) for overclocking the 7600GT.

Also for monitoring, you should probably look at Everest Ultimate.. see a pic of my desktop (in another obviously named topic) I posted recently to see Everest in action (on Vista sidebar). But, Everest can also do OSD if you don't have Vista or the sidebar.

I never mentioned RivaTuner 2.09 (I use it) because he never mentioned he was going to OC (CPU nor GPU).  It would be unfair to assume an OC was about to be performed unless specifically stated (since OCing can be a scary thing to a lot of people).

Another little program I like and load is NVidia nTune.  It loads as a driver and adds additional and enhanced functionality to the video control panel, including fan and speed controls (GPU and memory bus)  You may wish to try this before you use RivaTuner.  It will allow you to tune your video card for faster performance.

Current:  http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html

Supported OSes:
Windows XP (32-bit),
Windows XP x64 Edition
Windows Vista (32-bit)
Windows Vista x64 Edition

Version: 5.05.54.00
Release Date: September 19, 2007

Note also, please. The best source of OCing information / support is TomsHardware.com.  access the message boards for specific support already posted, or ask a question and it will be answered by techs that have already done what you are doing.

Wow Thanks Kail I am using rivatune but realized my 7600Gt has no thermal grease so it has been running about 160F/74-78C So I am gonna try and get some thermal grease on it before I clock it to high. bumped it up an additional 30/40Mhz for now. I know nothing special but it's my first OC so I don't wanna push my luck. And John Thanks for all your help too I will try and download the Ntune utility soon. Thanks Cheesy

Just a curiosity question here, but 'Default Ganda' as in the original form?  I never met the original.  Could someone tell me should I be afraid? Smiley
