I have a problem with Comodo,

it stopped working and idk why, so I had to uninstall it and I removed it with Add/Remove program in Windows,

some things in the Comodo Firewall file were deleted, while other files stayed there and my computer doesnt let me delete them,

so Comodo wasnt uninstalled properly, and I still have like some files in the Firewall file that cant be deleted, and Windows Security still says that Comodo Firewall is running, and when I try to reinstall it it says "Comodo is already intalled in the computer" and it asks me if I was to uninstall it and if I say "yes" nothing happens.

Can someone help me with this, please? I would like to be able to delete all the Comodo Firewall files and uninstall it so I can install it again properly.

Thank you and I hope you can help me, have a nice day.

& i CAN'T SEE NO bunny ( ALTHOUGH i'M STARTING TO FEEL LIKE ONE) or paperclip.
By the way, I'm so sick of this BS. Seems like......I buy "silent hunter wolves of the Pacific 4" for instance & it's just not a finished product. Istead of playing I get to wade through forums, looking up patches & instructions. doesn't anyone make a finished product anymore. How can a company charge $$ for a half baked product?

Sorry you've not been able to find it, dexptchang.

It's at the bottom of this post, right below the red horizontal line.

Hi everyone.

I have windows vista. Im having trouble with uninstalling comodo firewall v3 as well as everyone else. the reason why i want to uninstall it was it was stopping my computer from installing updates using windows update. I unziped the comodo uninstall.zip that pandlouk posted. I fallowed the directions he posted and it worked. I did the "Net windows management respiratory" work also to get rid of comodo firewall is on in the security center. Still, i cant download updates using windows update without getting error codes.

If theres a new version out there of comodo firewall that i can download windows updates with.. then i will download that version instead.. but if theres not, then i guess ill just go to a different firewall program. otherwise, can anyone help me with this problem?

help is appreciated.  Thinking

Stevensb ~ have you tried the uninstall routine attached to Pandlouk's post at the start of this thread?  If so, you might need to manually remove associated registry entries (I'd suggest first trying an automated cleaner like ccleaner or regseeker).

john2000 ~ This thread is regarding removal of v2.x, rather than 3.0.  I suggest you check this thread:  http://forums.comodo.com/help_for_v3/comprehensive_instructions_for_completely_removing_comodo_firewall_pro_3_info-t17220.0.html
Also as an FYI, v3 includes an "Install Mode" specifically for things such as Windows Updates.  Switching to that mode prior to running the Updater should eliminate your problem.  (Provided of course, that you did not switch to that mode already).

I recently had a problem with my PC connecting to the internet. I called my ISP and we went through list of things to troubleshoot and find the problem. One thing we tried was to turn off the firewall, so I did. That of course did not solve my problem. I had other problems with my PC that have since been resolved.

Here is my problem. When I went to turn my Comodo back on, I couldn't. When I tried to click the "turn on" button, nothing happened. I was told (by a friend) to re-install Comodo. Well It wouldn't let me. So I thought I'd just uninstall it and start all over. But when I tried to download the new firewall, I keep getting the Comodo is already installed, would you like  to uninstall it. But that doesn't work.

I've tried most of the suggestions in this thread but hasn't helped so far. I know VERY little about computers but can follow directions. If someone could basically hold my hand and take me step by step to clean out all remaining pieces of the old Comodo fire wall, I'd be forever grateful.

I'm running Windows XP if that helps. Love the Comodo firewall too.

This is the link I used to first download the first Comodo Firewall. I put it in my external HD to save C: disk space.

ccleacner perfect to remove message on "windows security firewal" : Firewall is off. But fail to remove boot.ini.comodofirewall

the uninstall routine :  fail to remove boot.ini.comodofirewall

Finally :
1. Ii decide to rename the file
2. delete the file.
3. use ccleaner
4. Finish

Question again : Are there something wrong ?

PS: sorry for my english

Stevensb ~

Glad you got it taken care of.  As far as if something was wrong, the only thing of which I am aware frequently causes problems is having active security software (AV, HIPS, etc) running while you install or uninstall the FW.  Other issues seem more system-specific.  Applications are getting more difficult to work with these days, as they embed deeper into the system.

As long as you're good to go now, I wouldn't worry about it.  If you do want to reinstall the FW, I would highly recommend doing so in SafeMode.

Rider99XX ~

That's a quick "bump"... Wink

Check my instructions in this post, earlier in this thread:

http://forums.comodo.com/frequently_asked_questions_faq_for_comodo_firewall/manual_uninstall_of_cfp_2x-t5326.0.html;msg86060#msg86060

The registry entry I mention there can be found here:

http://forums.comodo.com/frequently_asked_questions_faq_for_comodo_firewall/manual_uninstall_of_cfp_2x-t5326.0.html;msg83941#msg83941

I recommend using SafeMode for uninstall/install, so that you don't have conflicts with other software.  Be sure you're logged in to the same Admin account from which you first installed the FW.

If you need more detailed step-by-step instructions, let me know and I'll go find a link to another post(s) of mine elsewhere in the forums where I go through all that in mind-numbing detail... Wink

Hope that helps,

LM

Thanks Little Mac, I'll give that a try and we'll go from there. I am PC challenged for sure  Laugh

The quick bump was due to me wanting to get Comodo back up and running again so I can be safe while online. I really like the CFW.

I am logged in but I do not see any bunny and I do not see any paper clip anywhere in the post.
Also...what is meant by 'extract', is it the same as delete??
What is meant by 'unzip those file at the C:\ directory'? I always unzip files on my desktop.
Sorry but I am old and dumb and I find this extremely confusing. Huh Huh
