Yes I've been running it in VirtualBox. I did try to run it in outside of VirtualBox initially but I had that problem with the OS freezing right away. I'll give it a try again just in my current Vista setup. See what happens.

Hmm this is odd, I'm trying to download CIS 3.10 but I can only get 3.9 on the download page. Was 3.10 taken down? I see the release notes are still up.

This is the link I'm looking at:

I don't know why the main site is still serving 3.9, but you can download the latest 3.10 release from here.

Just wanted to update you guys since you have been helpful and maybe someone else will run into the same problem and read this and want some sort of solution.

So I installed 3.10 on my Vista Ultimate machine which is just running SP1 at the moment. This time I setup installed only the Firewall with the FIREWALL only settings enabled (no D+). The first time I had done it a few days ago, I had installed both the A/V (didn't realize it at the time) and I also installed the Firewall with D+ set to Optimum settings. Anyways, I setup only the Firewall  without D+. Once it asked me to restart, I was able to get to the desktop with a few prompts here and there. No freezes occurred though. I then went into Comodo and activated D+ and set it to Training Mode. I restarted the machine and it's been working so far without freezing. I've been using the machine since last evening and a couple of restarts and nothing bad so far has happened. So my guess is that I'm safe to go when I format the machine and go with Vista Ultimate SP2. The issue where it froze originally on my machine must have occurred because of all the programs I had probably were being blocked by D+ since it wasn't in Training mode. It also seems that testing in VirtualBox does cause problems.

I appreciate the help in this thread. Thank you.

hello

I'm sorry for my bad english but this is the first thread that shown the same problem i have too.

I don't understand all of your solution ... what should I do ?

I use Windows Vista x64 ultimate and the free version of CIS with installed A/V and Firewall.

My problem is the same like first post. I boot Vista an can work for a short time (<1 minute). Then the open window or the Desktop freeze and I can't do anything expect moving mouse.

This prolem occure on two laptops (my own and of my girlfriend), which have similarly same configuration.

Interestingly the prolems shown since last weekend after an update of Comodo -.-
If I execute an System-Recovery of my Vista, the system work fine.

I am grateful for any help ...

Thank you.

What other security programs are running in the background? Try disabling them.

Try deleting the rule you made for explorer.exe. Go to Defense + --> Advanced --> Computer Security Policy --> look up the rule for explorer.exe and remove it --> Apply and Ok your way out. Now try again.

Hi Eric and Big Dady,

I think, Big Dady is possibly having this issue.

https://forums.comodo.com/anti_virus_help/comodos_anti_virus_make_my_system_freeze-t43257.0.html;msg313973#msg313973

Seems alike.

Bad

May be the bases.cav has gotten corrupted? It's just a guess.
