Temporarily disable HW Firewall
« on: May 06, 2012, 02:13:08 AM »

Hi,

Is there a way to temporarily disable the hardware firewall in my Dlink DSL-2740B router?

I would like to do this to test the security of my PC's firewall and to see if my firewall is correctly configured.

I have tried Shield-Up tests and they all return with full 100% score, but I am not sure if my PC is actually that secure or if it is secured by my HW firewall.

Thanks.

Your best bet is to place the PC in the router DMZ.

I have tried the method as advised by Radaghast, and it worked great! During the test, I get numerous messages from CIS (and I just ignored them, neither clicked Allow or Block), and the stealth test is 100% perfect! Thumb Up
